I wasn't a big TP fan until THIS. As an old Deadhead, I gotta say this just captures the beauty and sweetness of a live show like few can do. He's got the crowd and they have him...An absolutely perfect moment that explains to the world that rock can be ART.

This cover version of Mystic Eyes performed here by Tom Petty & Crew is easily the best I have heard. Before I learnt it was a cover I believed it was written by Tom as the lyrics were so so Tom Petty. This song IS Tom Petty for me...as it was almost deliberately written for Tom to perform live. I actually find that very mystic in itself! However now that Tom passed away this year (2017) it is even more mystic...I have been a Petty fan ever since I first heard his global hit 'Refugee' from 1979 when I turned 16 over here in lil' New Zealand. And in 1990 when I was 25 I had my near-death motorcycle accident that ultimately resulted in me losing my entire left leg plus left hip joint and left side of my pelvis. I also suffered numerous other internal injuries. Ever since, I have suffered from chronic severe stump pain that is controlled via some pretty serious GP prescribed pain meds and other methods including regular exercise and a healthy diet. And also included is music...especially Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. So I guess it is only fitting that I would so so love to THANK YOU TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS for helping me control the strongest pain I have ever experienced in my life now for 27 years. My favorite song from Tom? Very difficult. When I bought 'Southern Accents' in 1985, I asked some good folks if I could insert it (cassette tape) in to their stereo system on a Sunday afternoon after recovering from a party the night before. It was on Side One and on came 'Rebels' over the speakers. We all raised our beer glasses in a toast to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and sculled our drinks. When song #3 came over the speakers however, many folks stopped talking and listened quite deliberately to 'Don't Come Around Here No More'. I believed we were all freaked out by the song. And so for me it is my pic for my favorite song from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. From Tom's solo albums I have always loved 'Wildflowers'. The song 'You Wreck Me' has been my favorite. Thing is, the night I had my motorcycle accident, a girl who I was hopelessly in love with, flirted with some other guys in the lounge we were in. I seethed with jealousy, left the room and went in to my bedroom and played my stereo - Deep Purple's 'Highway Star', 'Child In Time', and 'Black Night' came over the speakers. I then pulled my motorcycle helmet on and hit the road...literally! Please - never drive any vehicle upon feeling emotionally wrecked...I did and it almost killed me. L.S. (New Zealand)

Blackscorpion1963 I have to agree that as far as cover songs go this is absolutely as good as it gets. A big "thank you" to Tom Petty Radio for turning me into this. Missing Tom Petty in a big way.
