Thank you for the episode. Is is very helpfull to me. For light cable you can drill holes and insert cable through tube

Ok yes I could imagine that two little holes should be possible without weakening the rack👍

The quick update was one of your longer videos.... Just kiddin'. Always great content and to the point! Thanks for sharing. I thought about buying the Ortlieb rack but in the end decided to buy the Tubus Vega Classic and just leave it attached to the bike. I see no real benefit to remove it. For single tracks maybe, but for those I use my MTB. I am happy with the Vega.

Tanks^^ Yes that is what I want to let people now. One doesn't need it, it is a nice thing to have but definitely not necessary. Tubus makes awesome racks and the Vega classic is a great choice! Thanks for the comment ;)

When you're talking about similar racks, Tubus Disco comes to mind. It has a special QR that holds the rack but it needs eyelets around the seat tube area. I added a collar from Salsa that takes the role of the Ortlieb rack's rubber band around the seatpost.
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 7 ай бұрын
That is a good solution as well but as you say yourself only compatible with QR.

Nice Bike! Got the same :-) Just. bought the Quick Rack light yesterday. Was thinking about adding the mudguards but after seeing them in your videos I will go for an alternative. They are so short and don't look like they would prevent mudsplashes on my butt and back at all.
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 3 ай бұрын
I can totally understand you, the mudguard is not the most useful, true... The SKS Speedrocker are a good option, they have clearance up to 42mm but I use them on 45mm wide tyres and that also works.

thanks for this Video. Question - apart from Ortlieb saying it is not allowed on carbon frames - does anyone know WHY? Dos the metal clamp tighten too much for the carbon?
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 3 ай бұрын
Hey, the clamping as you said yourself is exactly the problem with carbon. Carbon is very weak when it comes to punctual force and easily breaks. That's why you might break it if you clamp it and load it up...

Great Video! I have a question regarding your dynamo, but I could not find any review about it... Could you please share which one you have, or even better, make a video about it? 😀 P.S. I lived in Freiburg, what a beautiful city! Vielen Dank im Voraus!

Hey! That is the SON 28 hub dynamo. I have planned on making a video about it some day but I didn't get round to it jet... I will eventually because it is a peace of art! Yeah Freiburg is great, lots of trails and many great companies such as Supernova and Tout Terrain! ^^

Hey, those are the SKS Speedrocker Mudguards, they officially only work for up to 42mm wide tires, but I use them on 45mm ones and they still work great! Cheers!

Hi! Thank you for this great review! You addressed some of my concerns that were not addressed anywhere else :) I am still wondering about one thing - I won't really need the option to take off the rack but my bike has a carbon frame and no eyelets below the seat - are you aware of any other reasonably priced rack that could be mounted on such a bike? I wasn't able to find any simple rack that would work with my bike but maybe there's something I'm not aware of ;)
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 5 ай бұрын
Hey Mewek, sadly I don't know of any other affordable solution. I can only think of the alloy version of the Tailfin which still costs very much, but sadly the only other option is getting a different bike. There are also racks that you can attach to only your seat post but if its carbon that won't work either and even if it were possible (with an aluminum one) they can't carry much weight (about 10kg), look in my opinion very bad and when you cycle whilst standing up, they tend to want to move sideways and possibly scratch your seat post and might not hold on tightly because the lever is so long. I hope I was of help, cheers!

@@jeremyw.465 Thank you for the reply! I had a quick conversation with ChatGPT and it seems that the Ortlieb Quick Rack is the cheapest rack that is capable of carrying 15+ kg and fits carbon bikes with dropout eyelets only, Tailfin and Old Man Mountain being two other options which are more expensive. Therefore, the rack is ordered and I'll treat it's quick remove feature as a bonus ;)

@@mewek hey Mewek, I might have misunderstood you, I thought you didn’t have any eyelets at all… do you mean you don’t have eyelets on the upper part of your seat stays, but you have some lower down at the dropouts? Because then you can easily screw in the „FRAME MOUNT PIVOT BEARING M5 or M6“ and install the rack onto them and to your saddle post. But in that case you could also buy a different seat post clamp which offers such eyelets to which you could install any rack (because you said you don’t actually need the ability to take the rack off). If you don’t know what I mean I can send you some links. In case you don‘t have these eyelets at the drop outs there are the seat stay adapters from Ortlieb. But these are not compatible to carbon frames!!!

Hello @jezza, thanks for your advice. I have the same bike and after your recommendations the SKS mudguards and rack. One question, in the first minute you are talking about that the adapters come out of the frame. Would you recommend in general using the optional adapters to clip it on the frame? thanks :)
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 8 ай бұрын
Hey, no I recommend the ones you screw into your frame! Firstly the others which you have to clamp to the seat stays will ruin your paint even more and they don’t seem as trustworthy… Cheers

If you attach it to your seat tube (if that sticks out enough, or to your dropper post where it doesn’t move it should work

Hi there, excellent review, thank you! Question that I have: you said, the 72mm mudguards are for tyres up to 2,3inch only. Where did you read that? Tested it? I plan on mounting them on my 60mm/2,5inch tyres. Issue?
@SonnyDarvishzadeh
@SonnyDarvishzadeh 10 ай бұрын
Well presented. I have the light version and the quick release mechanism is really close to the thru-axle handle, making it difficult to dis-/ mount, so I can imagine how attaching a trailer could cause a conflict. But overall, it's a smart design and well-built product. Plus the gravel bags, they're great for shorter multi-day trips.
@jeremyw.465
@jeremyw.465 10 ай бұрын
Thank you. Which bike do you have? On many Gravel bike the handle of the trough axle is only attached via a magnet so you might be able to take that out by pulling it. Then it would be less in the way of the quick release mechanism of the quick rack ;) I also have the gravel pack and I also like the combination!

@@jeremyw.465 Do you know which hitch (the fork at the front) you have? I think there are two lengths because the trailer exists in variants for 26" and 28"/29" bikes. My touring bike has 40x700 and SKS Longboard and there's not much but enough clearance.

I have the 26“ version. You can watch my video about the BOB Trailer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX69mpWNhLOohtEsi=OkxfUEIif6BIY0Df I have no issues with the fork of the trailer, the only problem ist that I can’t attache my Mudguard because there is not enough space.
