@@ORTLIEBwaterproof I think the shape of the pannier angles inward at the bottom so that ones foot doesn't bump against it (instead of rectangular shape). And then both sides need to be angled so that there is weight balance (instead of just the side near the foot). But wanted to confirm if this is accurate? A rectangular shape seems easier for packing, so wanted to understand the purpose.

Are the Urban line panniers durable enough for touring? I use and love your QL3.1 panniers on my commuting bike and I'll be getting a touring bike arriving in a couple months that I want to use these for. Would these work, or would they not be durable enough?

Hello Stephen, yes also the QL3.1 system is durable enough for touring. It's just a different mounting method.

Hello, Ortlieb~ My >ancient< Back-Roller panniers are black, shiny on the inside but with a textile look on the outside. Years ago I wanted to freshen their appearance so I sprayed them with tire black. They looked great until the dust began to stick. Can Ortleib suggest cleaning methods plus a better coating? I never need the full waterproofing for which Ortlieb is famous but I probably should protect the bags from UV & maintain the material. Thanks in advance & for the exceptional products!

Really? You sprayed them with paint? Why didn't you just use a mild soap and a gentle brush?

Hi Mick, unfortunately we are not able to recommend something here. We wouldn't recommend to spray your bags. What's important to know is that when the more textile looking materials change their appearance because of UV light over years, they still remain waterproof. So there is never coating needed. If you want panniers that stay looking good for the longest time, we would recommend the classic series.

The Plus-, Urban- and High-Vis-materials are lighter than Classic or Free. They are all durable, but as the Classic one is the one we sell for the longest time, we can say it is close to immortal!

PVC is normally HARD. only with problematic softeners it can be made useful and REALLY ROBUST.... but the "softeners" don't stay in the PVC.... they get out into the environment ant into your stuff.... so if you are not afraid about wearing and eating "softeners".....

Julia is an amazing ventriloquist! (Is the English speaking market really so small that you couldn't be bothered to also film a version with someone speaking English rather than this poor offer that at least makes me nostalgic for terrible cheap commercials from the 70s?!). Anyway, does Ortlieb or anyone have any information on whether any/all of their panniers are safe to use on a motorbike? The main concern perhaps being that they'll safely stay on at speeds of up to 70mph and if not that what maximum speed could they safely be used at?
