I tie my kayak off to the dock before I get out or in it just to be safe, luckily I have a tie off point where my seat is.

Would love to see an entry from the beach as opposed to a dock. Are you parallel to the beach or perpendicular to it? Do you straddle the kayak? How far out in the water do you need to wade before you can get in and be floating?

Getting in from the beach is super easy. You just put the boat half way into the water, get in, scoot out. Coming back in is a bit trickier. Again get the boat about half way on the sand and get out with one leg, then carefully holding on to the boat get the other leg out.

With calm weather, wind and water I find it easier to get in parallel to the beach at knee length water or higher, and I'm a short guy. If it's a little rougher, I'm perpendicular to kind of reduce movement from the water throwing off my balance and do a hop in at knee or shorter, then moving myself away. I've done inflatable kayaks and SUPs on the beach in calm and not so calm water, and have had no issues. Just got my oru today, so I'll be adding that to the beach list soon enough!

I almost fell out when I did that with my dog inside... because the dock was to high from the waterlevel and the kayak started going under the dock while I hold on to the dock like a mf just waiting to fall in the water, but I managed to drag the kayak out with my feets and sit down and push away.

I have bad knees, almost ready for replacement. I am a big guy, 320 lbs. I'm looking for some tips on a good fishing kayak, and tips for entering and existing for bad knees? Hope you can help

An actual fishing boat might be better for you. Kayaking can be a bit hard on the body overall, affecting the knees if there are preexisting issues.

Rope. Not in this vid but needed is some kind of dock rope (really anything sturdy). If you tie the boat when your getting off you might run into issues so just have it long enough to toss on deck or have a second person holding it with some slack. Once you get good you can tie off then get off.

If you look close you can see it's paddle is on a leash so the boat can't go away as long as the paddle sitting on the dock
