Can you please find someone who have more to say about NPD and other psychological topics... I believe it will help lot of your viewers , people like me are having a very difficult time in going through this awkward situation , I'm unable to convince others about my situation because they don't know what is NPD and how the abuser makes you a puppet for his/her play 😔

Somewhere the interviewer tried to invad the boundaries , but Goutami managed to be on her grounds. If more people talk about these things we will get to know the values of keeping our boundaries 👍🤠 Life is all about learning how vulnerable we all are in a situation that we don't expect in our life , some people will make narrow escape for such situations, some people will learn their mistakes and re write their paths 🌱

The idea about life keeps changing every 10 years, as long as your situations are changing. Marrying in 30's means struggling to raise your children till mid 50's. That's too difficult. Instead, get married and have kids(if you wish to) between 25-30. You will be almost free of responsibilities towards 50. God willing, there is a scope for peaceful retirement life. This advice is based on my personal experience. I pursued studies and concentrated in career till 30, while my sister got married after her master's. Now, in my forties, I am still struggling with two small kids (10 & 6) while my sister's kids are in college. She spends her forties much more effortlessly. Of course, her career suffered. So, there are merits and demerits for both these choices.

I could relate to Gautami's anxiety and overthinking situation. For me, it could be a valid or a hypothetical scenario triggered by whatever happened at some point in the day. I get anxious, overwhelmed, I go into worst case scenario..blah blah. The way I am dealing with it now is, I will go through that emotion, finally I come to "is there something that I can do about-yes/no-then why worry". sometimes if that won't help, I just cry my heart out. Then I calm down. ✌🏽

She s exactly me, i do over think and watch friends one whole episode from Netflix to distract from everything.. also it's s damn true, we realise what we want and what is right and wrong, everything near to 30.. i married when 29 and just after that things changed . I am grateful for the companionship i have with my best friend but the rest when it comes to responsibility and shits wth family and in laws and society, that's ridiculous and cannot accept at all, gradually it's raising the anxiety to a worse condition! I blame the system we follow here.. it sucks. Great thanks to Dhanya for another amazing interview..love yu for what you do 💓

Thanks for the last statements of Dhanya. I have soooo many problems and don't know what all are they. Overthinking gives me pain and frustration every day. And the response I get from husband is, why are you over reacting to a small thing (wherein my reaction is result of the 10 things I thought in that situation, in that few secs) and the second thing he ask is why don't think of the blessings you have (like she said in ur interview with Supriya). So I'm stamped as a person with negative thoughts. They can't understand minds like mine exist and it is out of my control and might get fix with therapy or might not 🙄

@Gauthami Nair I don't have any idea whether you encountered a narcissist in your life or you met someone with such characteristics during your practice It's my request if you get chance to talk about NPD in any interview please be prepared for it 🙏 The young Mallu generation badly need some eye opening talks about what exactly is NPD and what all are the characteristics of such people I'm not talking about having conversation about your personal life , I'm requesting you to give people some revelation about NPD as a Psychologist. While going through all the issues happened around Kerala there are some connections with these personality traits , and people who failed to spot these weird personality traits become their Victims and we read news about it with really awkward climax , I don't know how to convince you 🥺😥😢 NPD people are in spotlight (Sarbath Shameer is just one example) and making others suffer badly their is a missing link between awareness and knowledge about NPD in our current young genaration in Kerala .... Note : (I'm only aware about NPD because I faced it, I believe there are other crazy personality traits hiding among us)

I am sorry Dhanya, but as a doctor I am forced to say something aloud. A research fellow in one topic in neuroscience can't be labelled a neuroscientist. The scope of a neuroscientist is much larger. And a real neuroscientist will be able to call themselves so without having to Google it. She is a psychologist. Plain and simple.

As I'm also a mental health professional..I respect all her personal affairs and things she had come across...but still It's not fair to term a person Clinical Psychologist without completing MPhil in Clinical Psychology, and if she has completed that, it's totally fine...and also talking about neuroscientist the one who completed PhD in a particular field namely of neuroscience can only be termed as neuroscientist.. it's not that just googling what I'm doing is considered as a neuroscientist....Also every kind of things she had spoken in this first part ...about ADHD....is not complete, somebody scrolling into social media for a longer period of time is not labelled as ADHD. ADHD as a disorder is more into inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity with lot more symptoms ( varies with individuals)...and also a person with overthinking should never try of scrolling into social media or Netflix as it is a negative coping mechanism and overthinking can take place due to various psychological issues, a person should be given therapy if needed for the underlying cause rather than talking about it in more lighter way, it is also a thing to be considered more intensively.. Im not sure whether the second part will be covering the complete picture and clarifies all those mentioned biases in the first part...but at the present phase no false information should be conveyed to the public... Thank you ☺️ @iamwithdhanyavarma

Completely agree! The exact thoughts I had while watching this. It's not just therapy which is sensitive. When a public figure who happens to be an 'aspiring' Neuroscientist/Clinical Psychologist discusses such serious stuff so lightly, there are high chances of people getting influenced and misled, even if it is unintended. So there should have been extra caution and clarity, according to my opinion. I feel Dhanya even prompted some questions to bring better clarity, but didn't seem like working well. People already have a lot of misconception regarding mental illnesses. Serious conditions like Depression and OCD have already become silly casual usages for many. Let's not bring in more of such blunders please!

I totally agree with gauthami s views. I married at 28 but still i feel if i was given more time i would have been happier.yes 28 is old but may be i did not have the emotional maturity of a 28 year old. However there are girls who are 23 who get married and take forward their marital life so beautifully so I feel it's not about the age but about the person, the circumstances and so many factors . Being forced to marry /make a decision just because your parents are getting old is wrong .

You are doing a great job Ms. Dhanya.. But here am so sorry for saying that I totally disagree with Gauthami what she explained about ADHD and dealing with overthinking… this is not what people expect from a psychologist… watching Netflix is not a clinical approach to deal with overthinking.. it is a kind of escapism from some disturbing thoughts… in fact people who are really going through overthinking cannot watch a movie peacefully or they cannot divert their thoughts easily.. that is why they have to seek a professional help… and Ms. Gauthami, kids disturbing their elder siblings while studying at home is a common thing.. it’s quite normal.. pls don’t tell it is what hyperactivity or symptoms of ADHD.. people who watch this may think their children have ADHD…Bcz this is something every baby does…it is really misleading Anyway appreciating you the way you handled your divorce which is not easy for everyone..

Hi Dhanya, for your kind information In India required qualification for a clinical psychologist is Mphil in Clinical psychology and you need a licence (by the Rehabilitation Council of India RCI)to practice as a Clinical Psychologist. The interview was really good and relatable. But as a psychologist, I must say that it is not okay to believe that you are hyperactive because of the limited behavior patterns you mentioned. And it is improper to diagnose somebody in an unofficial setting like what you mentioned. This is misleading. There should be a clinical approach as Dhanya Varma mentioned. Adult ADHD is so much more intense than the manifestations you denoted.
@Gauthaminair13
@Gauthaminair13 Жыл бұрын
I already mentioned that we keep having our own little conversations to figure out own little problems and habits. There’s so much more to these conversations that happen than what I have actually spoken about in this interview. And where I work in the hospital, my team consists of some of the most intelligent doctors and therapists. Of course adult ADHD is more than what I said, but I was talking about myself and my problems I wasn’t speaking about how the general public may show such symptoms and I already stated in the beginning of the interview that I do not do therapy as I feel people can take any small thing you say to fit their own personal narrative in whatever way they like.

If many can take privileges in the name of caste whether in education or in jobs in India she has not getting the same out of it. Then what's other peoples issue. Let her or any one who wishes to use their surname be free to use it. Caste name as Surname is not a taboo in our country. In Kerala only this much of unnecessary pressures to remove surname. In Other states not only general category but also every other reservation catagory put their surname with pride. No one mock on them. If anyone dared to question them they will give befitting reply also

Because I have so much more to speak about and an interview isn’t necessarily about talking about the things that only happen in my personal life. I’m given a Platform and space to talk about things that might be socially relevant to the general public and I have sooo much to talk about and sadly I can’t do it all during just an interview 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didnt feel so. What I felt is since this is a not scripted interview like the ones of film promotions where u r prepared & u already know wht to answer for the familiar questions. This is more of ones life experiences & stuff they go through, so definetely u need need to think & talk, edit the unrelevant & speak the rest in a short span.

Dear Dhanya Varma, With all due respect, I can't help but notice that of late, there's a lot of focus on guests' personal life rather than their achievements, struggles to achieve something etc. I understand people have a natural curiosity to know about others' lives, and that it'll increase your view count etc, but steering clear of that was what made The Happiness Project special. (I know this isn't Happiness Project and that I Am has a different strategy. But people come to watch your content for a specific reason.) There was one question in Grace Antony's interview where you asked about her experience while acting with Mammootty. Would someone ask Mammootty how he felt while acting with Grace? It was a signal that you, like the majority of interviewers, are falling prey to 'peer pressure'. There are others to cover that kind of content. I love your work and have immense respect towards you and hence this humble request to stay unique and not become 'just another interviewer'.

Thanks for your feedback... Sometimes peopls wish to talk about thaelves.sometimes they don't...they wish to convey a message at times...trust me if the.guest wasn't comfortable or didn't wish to speak about it...none of this part of the content would be shor.or aired..This show is different in the way that it delves deeper into the lives so personal will be covered for sure. All this while being immensely.conscious of the.guest and what and how much they wish to share and only that much is aired for you as well.

I agree with this point, Dhanya. Supriya Menon was completely distraught and in pieces during the interview. I feel a lot of the interview as such was aired to get views. This reminds me of a popular singing talent show from the early 2000’s where every contestant had to cry during their expulsion.

I too agree with the opinion..In one of the last interviews with Supriya Menon ,the anchor kept on asking questions related to her father and Dhanya Varma had to take break due to the bad condition of Supriya in Part 1.Even after that ,she kept on asking questions about the same topic again and again even after Supriya said that she was taking therapy to overcome her mental state..It was bad and highly unethical to ask such questions by knowing her deteriorating mental health condition ..Pathetic ! I didn't see the second part due to this behaviour..This can't be appreciated for any reasons dear Dhanya.. Please let them speak of themselves instead of tagging them with their spouses..With command over words and decent pronunciation you are not supposed to do this..I strongly disagree with your interview with Supriya and try to avoid such situations.

Ideally Gauthami is right ,in married life, individual is incomplete as marriage is the union of two individual ready to sacrifice each other for the sake of our ignorant society! So whether marriage is safe or arresting individuality also have to be taken seriously! Till now we all just blinded towards so important matter and going relentlessly the same foolishness with proud feeling of ,oh! our responsibility is over in a way! A better option is still waiting but what should be is the question!

It's important to bring personalities who have been through hardships and an inspiration to others... creativity is flourishing amidst the common man these days!!!! There is limit to Hypocrisy about promoting equality in society by propagating gender equality etc when both the anchor and guest like Gautami “ Nair”, Supriya “Menon” and Dhanya “ Varma” still as adults chose to propagate caste surnames when they can willingly choose to discard it like how Prithviraj Sukumaran is not known by caste surname but by the power of his talent. “ Pride should be reserved for something you achieve or obtain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth. Being Irish isn't a skill... it's a fucking genetic accident. You wouldn't say I'm proud to be 5'11"; I'm proud to have a pre-disposition for colon cancer. George Carlin

Definitely more conversations with role models, but I am sure people like Dhanya can do much more to sensitize the society through powerful communication channels. It is good to put some metric to see the real impact of these conversation... what changes does it bring to the society , beyond the social media views!!!
