As I have gotten older my tastes in music have become much more eclectic. I used to be a total metalhead and I guess i still lean towards that genre. Back in high school I wouldn't be caught dead listening to music like this. THIS song however...is a masterpiece. It's been playing in my head on repeat pretty much since I first heard it about 3 weeks ago. Immediately...after the first time I heard it here on KZbin...I clicked out of KZbin and bought the album having only heard this song and never having even heard of Orville Peck. Then I went straight back to KZbin and listened to it again about 3 more times. The rest of this album "Pony" is enchanting and I would STRONGLY suggest to anyone who is considering buying it to go ahead and pull the trigger! Im 99% sure you will be happy that you did...i know i am...and this is coming from a guy who used to listen to nothing but Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" album and "Master of Puppets" by Metallica. Thank you so much Orville for broadening my musical horizon's to even more great music that is outside of the norm for this old head banger!

Same! I think what I appreciate most is that it’s not ashamed of what it is, if that makes sense? So much of what we call “country music” nowadays is twangy pop music or bro country or someone trying to reverse-engineer another “Old Town Road”. I hate all of those things. But I’ll bump this any day of the week!

I am definitely a fan! And he does look like a watchman character, like he's singing this in a club and is attacked by an assassin, band keeps playing like it happens every show. The sun goes down, another dreamless night You're right by my side You wake me up, you say it's time to ride In the dead of night Strange canyon road, strange look in your eyes You shut them as we fly, as we fly Stark, hollow town, Carson city lights Baby let's get high Spend a johnny's cash, hitch another ride We laugh until we cry You say "go fast" I say "hold on tight" In the dead of night, dead of night See, see the boys as they walk on by See, see the boys as they walk on by (As they walk on by) It's enough to make a young man Six summers down, another dreamless night You're not by my side Scratch on the moon, like a familiar smile Stained on my mind Some other town, someone else's life Dead in the night, in the night See, see the boys as they walk on by See, see the boys as they walk on by See, see the boys as they walk on by (As they walk on by) It's enough to make a young man

Unfortunately the pain associated with loneliness is stubborn, the pain hangs. The pain tells you one thing, but you need another. Another person, another guide, an outside-ish perspective. I say "ish" because if you don't have that connection with someone, how can their criticism be accurate? And it continues....
