Proclaimed as the most accurate rod to date, we had to test the new Orvis Helios 3 in one of the most accuracy dependent fisheries on the planet. The prestigious flats of Biscayne Bay. The H3 passed with fly colors. Orvis's new masterpiece is not only incredibly accurate but also one of the lightest 8 weights we've ever held. With power and strength to boot, the D model of the H3 is an asset to saltwater and warmwater anglers everywhere.

That H3 may be a good stick, but it ain't winning any beauty contests. It looks more like a heavy power, bass flipping rod than a fly rod. That white paint on the butt section is terrible looking. I'll stick with my Sage X 890 and Sage Xi3 890.

I disagree, but I see your point, I think it is a good look for a modern rod, but nothing beats the sexiness of SAGE for it is the work of Jerry Siem!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 maybe cause you haven't it... Anywhere, you can try the Helios 3f, that is made for dry fliy fishing, and, for me, is the best dry fly rod you can buy... The Helios 3D is more for streamers fishing, so the target are predators like bass, muskies, pikes and saltwater fish... You can catch a pike with a dry fly, but is more probabile catching him with a streamer, so the action of the rod have to be more fast. I prefer slow rods (i often use bamboo), and, when i can, i don't use weights over 4 or 5. This cause it's not the rod that catch the fish, but the fisherman...You can have the best fly rod, but if you haven't practiced, nothing changes.. I fished for 20 years with the same rod reel and line, a Shimano Biocraft 7'6" 4wt buyed new for 80€, a Shimano Biocraft reel for 50€ and a 4wt DT line for 40€. Whit that equipment i fished for 20 years almost every kind of freshwater fishes.. I used to fish small trouts in little streams, and big trouts in very l'argento streams...With the years, i started try to fish in the bigger rivers in the north of my country, where i catched some massive marble trouts; i also landed a pike, a large amount of basse and also carps... But, after 20 years i decided i was tired fishing for big fishes with a 4 wt 7'6" long stick. You can say what you want, but if you go in one of the many crystal water river of North-Est of Italy, if you fish with a good streamer and you move it well, it's not strange to hook a 1 mt marble trout...So, if you want to land fishes like these one, you may have the right gear, or you're gonna break the rod if you cast too heavy streamers..For the rest, i prefer fishing whit small dry flies, or little nimphs, but, today, the only difference it's that i fish with a fantastic rod, that helps you in many situations..

Guess you haven't thrown one in a while. I like thier new glass, recon, and helios 3. They are actually all terrific casting rods. For me personally some days I do cast the TFO Axio 2x better. Depends on the day, wind, line, distance and the caster really. Maybe it's you?
