I’ve been in fire alarm for about 3 years on the install now transitioning to service and inspections. The simple explanation on the sprinkler side really helped clear things up

Cold weather ever cause problems?

Kevin, yes it does. In colder climates they are often covered with insulating blankets. I live and worked in an area that is warmer climate in SoCal, so rarely issues with winter weather unless at higher elevations. However, around 2003 we had a super cold winter and I was inspecting a Junior high that day and the back flow preventer/OS&Y had sprung a leak. But, it was quite humorous that the leak was a small spray and it was so cold it was making snow like a snow making machine and the students were throwing snowballs etc. Here is a website I found that talks about insulating blankets and other methods to protect equipment during cold weather. backflowdirect.com/blog/tips-to-prepare-your-backflow-preventer-for-cold-weather

Haha THEY BETTER NOT HAVE THE FIRE LINE TIED INTO THE DOMESTIC WATER "so you don't drink the disgusting sprinkler water " That fire line backflow (Wilkins) will not be domestic water .. thus again I'm proving myself right as the water in the fire line is black and disgusting thus a high hazard for protection of domestic water and double check backflows cannot protect high hazard. It would require a "RP" backflow for extra protection... and RPs aren't ever installed in just fire lines . Only double checks like that one

Bro it’s only a supervisory they would never call the fire department for that. They will call the people on the call list that CENTRAL STATION has.

You need to rewatch the video BRO, he never said they’d call the fire department.
