Osaka Symphony; 2018; Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller
A site specific audio installation commisioned by
The National Museum of Art, Osaka, Japan.
The audience are given an iPod and headphones and asked to explore a long narrow corridor. As the viewer moves through the space numerous soundtracks play all dependent on where the person is in the corridor. Audio fades up as they enter a certain area and fades down as they leave that area. Sounds overlap and mix together all controlled by each individual. Each audience member becomes a DJ using their body movements as they 'play' the space.

I have just experienced it in Osaka. As soon as I noticed they were distributing the DT990 to every visitor, I immediately realized that sth big was going to happen! What an awesome sonic experience! I will definitely revisit it and spend at least an hour in there. Thanks for bringing this creative piece of art to us!
