Maybe you remember those days when the sun seemed to shine constantly and the steam trains ran throughout our island ?
Well Isle of Wight Archive is here to bring back those memories .
These vintage films are taken from the original one off reels and scanned to digital formats by myself .
I also do sprinkle in some modern Isle of Wight film of things happening at the moment .
I always welcome your comments and memories associated with each film .

I remember this place so well - My Dad (sometimes mum too) took me to the Waxworks every year even twice and one of the sons used to try and scare me with a hairy glove at the entry desk but never got away with it with me. I remember Stuart in the Bat Mobile too that he made up from an old Chevy or something roaring down Union Street in Ryde in the 1980s and early 1990. Miss it so much so sad. Thank you for showing us around again.

Surely that should be a listed building. Bet some brown envelopes were passed in the council to allow that to happen. GuildfordGhost has a vid of the last weekend open. That place and the sweet shop the old woman owned was the only reason to visit Brading. Now there is nothing.

So the mansion is staying? That's good. But really nothing to see in Brading anymore now then.

I remember going I first heard the organ fugue played there by a skeletal monk figure I hope the Tudor looking building was saved

What a shame. I remember taking my mum and dad here years ago. Whilst waiting for them to catch me up I stood under "The Sign". When they came nearer towards me my mum stated that standing under the sign was a bit dangerous as it could have fallen on me.!! Poor woman was always worried about something. Houses again. Its always houses. Whose needs are they catering for, the locals or outsiders. The council wanting more money.

Good report Mr Strokes (And thank god You're not Marc Tuckey!!) Sad days indeed. I used to love visiting this as a kid, (and then as a dad). We went along to have a last look on it's final weekend of being open just for old times sake. It wil be missed.

So they will keep the old building (listed presumably) and put new builds on the back of it? Sandwiched between the adjacent graveyard and the ghost ridden old house would you want to live in those newbuilds..things will be def going bump in the night me thinks

it has since been done up after years of being empty. it is now called the waxworks cafe/bar . lots of old wax museum memorabilia on the wall. the new owners are keen not to forget it's famous past as the wax museum

It is a shame I remember coming here as a kid over 20 years ago i think it needs to be remade somewhere else it was much better than madame tussauds

all the exhibits, down to the nuts and bolts, quite literally were sold over various auctions after closure and are scattered all over the country. unfortunately it will never open again in another location.
