I've just read in the comments section that many people think that a MIDI is actually playing on the recording, so I'd like to clarify this situation. I played every note on this recording with my own two hands. The recording is entirely my own, the tempos are entirely my own. I used an electric piano as an instrument, connected to the computer, and used the Sibelius Sound Set. I hope this is an acceptable explanation, so in the future I don't want to see any comments questioning whether I am actually playing the piano on the recording. Thank you.

@jazzgal5631 The playing is technically very good, but some of the exercises are played so fast that the notes can't be properly swung, so it doesn't sound very jazzy.

Great performance and wonderful technique. I feel like all the ppl in the comments complaining about too much speed and technique don’t realize that this video is from a jazz exercise book by Oscar Peterson. It’s literally meant to improve one’s speed and talent through practice. Oscar played very fast.

Nice playing! I'm actually not surprised people think the first one would be a midi file since you played it so ridiculously evenly it actually sounded almost too precise! That's a tell tale sign of a good pianist though, deadly precision ;) Nice playing!

CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION! I read a comment below that said that the music disappears in the performance when it focuses too much on technicalities. What do you think? there are artists who, without knowing anything about technique, do wonderful things and others who, with the progress of their technique, achieved the same result. In which cases can music be overshadowed by technique? Over-technique can limit the artist depending on where you start. What do you think? :)
@lisandrodaniel20682 жыл бұрын
I will copy this discussion in another piano videos. Its really interesting for me beacuse i started piano 2 years ago and I have experienced those cases of lack of creativity due to over-techniques

I would agree with you generally speaking. But this video is Oscar Petersons exercises book. So technique is really the goal here.

Fast. Quick. Speedy.

@@giusgius9299 Honestly. Was that the only thing you could think of? That I play something fast to prove that I'm better than Peterson? No. I play this way because it's close to me. If you don't like it, I accept it. But if we don't agree on something, is your first thought that I'm just trying to show that I'm better than someone else? If you offer constructive criticism, I'm open to it, but I'm not open to cynical judgement.
@giusgius92994 ай бұрын
It was an opinion. But I take note of your comment. One thing is true: played so fast this music is not jazz but it seems to come from an organetto.
