As someone who has actually watched How Green Was My Valley can I point out that it isn't a bad film in the slightest. As for it's BP win over Citizen Kane, it should be noted that Citizen Kane's reputation at the time wasn't what it became.

i actually prefer how green was my valley - citizen kane is a dark, fascinating, richly intelligent and deeply moving film, but valley, to me, is just such an overwhelmingly beautiful vision of childhood. it is dark in its own right: ford is keenly aware that the era of the film is receding even under the protagonists’ feet and a really powerful sense of mourning weaves its way through the latter half of the film. it’s just masterful.

lol I love Christopher's(0:33) and Charlize's(0:49) comments in reaction to Tilda giving away her Oscar. I didn't know she did that until now but it doesn't surprise me because she's the kind of actor that does it for the work, not the accolades or fame and fortune. I also like what George said about remembering great work rather than who won an oscar; and Rocky should NOT have won the oscar over Network, Taxi Driver, and All the presidents men(i didn't see that other film he mentioned)

Lol I like how George says he doesnt remember who wins oscars but he remembers performances and movies but then goes off and list the nominees for the '96 academy awards and says who won, Rocky, but he doesnt remember that lol

It was the '76 best pic. noms. I think that was his favorite year that's why he remembers the nominated movies, esp. All the President's Men which he also mentioned in the 2008 Oscars roundtable show.

not really.. Tilda is literally an artist that follows a different dimensional approach to whats considered to be glorious in Hollywood... She's more for the high of getting the work done.. and moves to the next project.. and likes a fat check from a blockbuster... but not the admiration... It's refreshing. It's blunt.. but she's obviously got the work done in her part of the bargain.. so it her choice.. It's not like she does a shitty job and gets the oscar. She owes no explanation.. such a baller.
