His confidence wasn't the issue, the defensive managers (Benitez, Mourinho & Conte) made his role the hardest out of everyone in the team. He was tasked with being a creator & a goal threat while also having to make up for Hazard, Mata & Fabregas' defensive insufficiencies. That drains the consistency & flair out of you over the years.
