One of the best synths made EVER! this is one of the few synths I can open and just play with for hours. I can play with this thing on its own and be completely happy. very few have the same satisfaction.

I bought mine from Chris Hugget in 1986. It was a demo-ex used at the Music Fair at Olympia Exhibition Centre in London. I knocked the price down from £299 to £280. Quite a bargain! When the fair closed, he delievered it to my hotel off Piccadilly Circus in his old Austin 1100. A very humble and nice man!

impOSCar is one of the BEST sounding plugins. I wish someone like GForce would do the syrinx already.. all rare and legendary synths should be made plugins!

You make the most awesome demo videos ever. Totally awesome narration. Hats off. Still can't get over the 8 Voice video. So much passion.

I love your posts, sir. I never realized that the OSCar had 8 bit digital oscillators - like my Ensoniq Mirage: 8 bit digital oscillators with analog self-oscillating filters. Cool! Re. the styling, I fall firmly into the "LOVE IT!!" camp. Hats off to GForce. You guys are very clearly pursuing a labor of love, to the great benefit of all of us who care about this stuff.

I had One my Fav Syth at the time, I got it as I loved Ultravox, I remember it sounding better than just Resonance Squeaks like this
@macronencer7 жыл бұрын
In my head this synth is forever associated with Ultravox. I had no idea Oscar Peterson had one! I never really knew much about it before, so thanks for the informative video. The dual filter thing was a great innovation. I have a vague memory of playing one of these live once in the 1990s (I think it was a gig where my own synth had broken down and I borrowed the OSCar). What a shame it was just the once...

I had one of the first OSCars produced - I wish I still had it - I think the serial was 0059

The claim that around 2000 were made is often heard. I've been keeping track of serial numbers I've seen online, and I've never seen one over 900. I think the correct number is that no more than a thousand were made.

I owned one mid 80s. The layout, protective bumpers and rubbery knobs are still out of the box and functionally helpful, and some are inspired by it. I found it sonically unsatisfying after comparing it directly with vintage monos but I can understand the love factoring in the midi and storage

My first analogies here synth, bought in 86..the outward look is very cool, because the rubber knobs and bumpers felt very good and were excellent protections that other designs didn’t have. The sound didn’t wow me though, but someone with good programming skills could both get some good sounds and use it’s more flexible potential.

I have bought so much synth-plugins, but at the end a stay by my hardware. The imposcar2 is one of the 2 or three plugins that I am still using besides my hardwaIts such a joy playing the oscar that I am often thinking about gettin a special oscar-hardware-controller.

When I was a youngster, I saw Ultravox talking about their Oscar on TV. I was amazed by it! Then - in the 00s I think - I saw that very Oscar on Ebay! It was about £1500 and looked like it had been kicked around outside :( I just couldn't bring myself to bid on the poor thing :(
