Yes, I was very sexy indeed. This is why my Oscar bought me all of those lovely gifts.

Jesus, Barack Obama, Jeoffrey Baratheon-Lannister... And now: Alfred Douglas.

personal opinion, i think it's the fact the two (Wilde and Douglas) could destroy each other that made them fall so madly in love. destruction can be beautiful.

Bosie was a fine poet, by Victorian standards, which quickly changed post-Eliot and post-Yeats. He was never given his due. That was certainly part of the attraction.

It's such a treat to hear Stephen Fry describe Wilde and his life. Brilliant :)

Nobody mentions how great of a poet Bosie was. If anyone read the Two Loves, the Dead Poet or any of Bosie's poems, they'd understand the intellectual bond they'd share. Bosie's style was radically different from Wilde and I think that was refreshing for Wilde as a different view. To put it into perspective, Bosie has been compared Shelley by Shaw and said to be the greatest English poet since Shakespeare.

"But I've lavished presents on you!" Fry sounds so much like Graham Chapman there.

Bosie led Oscar the same way Yoko dominated John. And we'll never know what each of those artists could have produced without the wrought iron choke collars around their necks they claimed to love.

Define love. The Catholic definition is "willing the good of the other". However, there is no wrongful act that justifies a moral outcome, also a profound Catholic teaching. Promiscuity being an immoral act. I'm glad to hear Fry voice that they stopped a physical relationship early on. Whether there was a such a relationship ever, we're not entirely sure. Wilde, a yearning Catholic all his life once stated the he wanted to die Catholic as he could never live as one. But his father forbade it. He formally converted to the Catholic faith before he died.

Now I'm confused, I thought marquis was pronounced markee, not markwis as the director here just pronounced it....It was a wonderful movie and I am a big fan of Oscar Wilde, I thought Stephen Fry did an incredible portrayal of Wilde, and the movie was entertaining from the start...

In English the title is always pronounced like English, 'Marquess'. 'Marquis' is the French title.

If you've read any of his work, you'd know that Oscar was completely at war with himself and knew all of his decadent, homoerotic acts were, in the most literal sense, completely evil.

you are not allowed to make a critical , and factual comment on , Oscar Wilde or Stephen Fry's adulation for that convicted child rapist . indeed, fry and others laud Wilde's adoration for " beautiful little boys ." as if it was a wonderful thing . the LUST that dare not speak its name ! fry and his boyfriend's can put me on the pillory for daring, as a victim , for daring to speak out against these " boy lovers .
