Anyone who has watched any of your videos this award season could have predicted which two would be in the top slots. 😉 I love how you described all ten performances. Highlighting what makes them all award-worthy, giving all of them a moment to shine in your video, well done. My personal favorite is Sebastian Stan. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased as I have been a fan of his for many years now, but one of the reasons for that is how versatile he is in his roles. And even knowing that and what he is capable of, he still managed to impress me with the Apprentice.

The first time was 1967, with Anouk Aimée (A Man and a Woman) and Ida Kaminska (The Shop on Main Street). The second time was 1977, with Marie-Christine Barrault (Cousin, Cousine) and Liv Ullman (Face to Face).

I have a question for everyone who feels to answer (😂), I was a theatre kid and absolutely loved Wicked and Cynthia’s performance. But, I do feel some other actors or actress are better, like Fernanda Torres. Also I do feel that it’s such different films and kinda tough to judge because of that… How you (person who’s reading this) would judge Cynthia’s performance considering all of the others artists and that diversity of genres? Isn’t it ironic how certain movies can be better even if not “as much” (not devaluing it, of course!!) of a production as Wicked for example?

I thought Cynthia was sublime in wicked. I’m just not typically a movie musicals guy. I do like them, but not my first genre. Also when trying to predict winner or how academy will vote, it’s typically tougher for musical performances. In the 97 history only 6 best actress awards have been for musicals so it is pretty rare and would have to be a consensus like OMG across the board (last one to do it was Emma stone for la la land).

1. Mikey Madison, Anora (As nyc folk, I saw so much tied into this performance ino our city and she satisfied. Seriously Marisa Tomei-level of satisfiability, then on top of that, she took that role and made it a career defying role. And she ain't even done yet, folks), 2. Fernanda Torres, I'm Still Here (Honestly tie for #1, she makes me want to hug her for how good she is) 3. Adrien Brody, The Brutalist (Perfection, although I wish there was some narrative re: rape) 4. Demi Moore, The Substance (Who knew Demi would be a horror girlie with a statuette - possibly?!) 5. Cynthia Erivo, Wicked (Defying Gravity = perfection) 6. Colman Domingo, Sing Sing (A performance bogged down by melodrama) 7. Ralph Fiennes, Conclave (Lord Voldemort plays a cardinal, succesfully) 8. Karla Sofía Gascón, Emilia Pérez (Besides, the controversy, this co-lead performance is stand-out) 9. Timothée Chalamet, A. Complete Unknown (lack of emotional beats) 10. Sebastian Stan, The Apprentice (I liked it, but not enough to rank it above any other 9 other nominees. I found this performance to be sorta half-assed but saw it coming) That's just me :D Also i know this is besides the point of this vid, but I will say time and time again, why was Carlos Diehz not given a campaign?! I mean, come on *rolls eyes* that's literally the most impressive acting in the film

Honestly, no shade to Demi, but she's certainly not the best interpretation of the year, and if she wins it will be just by narrative. In my opinion, Toni Collette, for example, performed better in Hereditary and was not even nominated at the time.

Emilia Perez, I honestly can't freaking understand why this movie has more Oscar nominations than Casablanca, Ben-Hur, The Lord of The Rings, Sleepless in Seattle, The Revenant, Chicago, The Goodbye Girl, Forrest Gump and Schindler's List. So, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is sending a message to the world that this movie is better than Casablanca and Schindler's List... Why ? Short answer is bec they are virtue signaling. They’re known for nominating culturally relevant or politically charged films. They see their nominations as proving that they are an ally to the trans or Latino communities. Now, I personally am like you and I don’t get it. Oh man, the ending to Anora is one of the most beautiful moments in the history of film. I’ve ever seen in my entire life.. I mean this comparable to the ending of Schindler‘s list and ET the extra terrestrial I mean, it’s just that moving.

Conclave is not the type of film I’m drawn to, but I have a screener and saw it. Ralph Feinnes is very good. Chalamet is solid as Bob Dylan but I thought the film was mediocre. I also think Coleman Domingo was very captivating. I haven;t seen The Apprentice yet. Adrien is good too, but that film is way too long.

I really was behind Demi's nomination and The Substance's success in general because it's great to see the Academy recognizing this kind of a movie. That said it doesn't sit well to me how Demi is now this huge front runner on the back of her speech and narrative. She was great in the movie but the nomination should be the recognition for that performance, from what I've watched alone, MJB, Torres and Madison were far better performances IMO. I actually think Demi has not given even the best horror performance of this year with the incredible work Naomi Scott did in Smile 2. I guess that's how Oscars are and have always been and every year some of us expect them to be something they aren't. It still drives me crazy how Jean-Basptiste didn't even get a nomination, she and Torres should be the real favorites to win and Madison with real upset chances.

@@kfpc99 how? Golden Globes nomination was out waaay before the other awards ended their voting. The movie made a lot of success in Cannes and already had a Oscar buzz around it. The voting members of those awards were there, they just didn’t nominate her. Also, any other actress in her golden globes cathegory wasn’t nominated for the Oscar. While Demi beated Oscar nominee Mikey, Oscar nominee Karla and Oscar nominee Cinthya.
