Will stood up, interrupted a whole show, assaulted a man over a joke, went back to his seat, swore at him, got coddled by his Hollywood friends, won an award, made a speech, and got applauded. I can't even fathom that kind of privilege.

I know right. Anybody else would have been thrown out and arrested immediately. I'm getting another O.J. feeling here. A rich popular guy doing whatever he wants and nobody does anything. Hell, Will got a standing ovation. After this, I don't want to hear Hollywood saying sh*t about anything political, or talking down to anybody because of their 'pro-right' views. Look at the producer putting the blame on Chris for why Will wasn't escorted out. I said before just because Chris didn't want Will hauled out in cuffs by LAPD on live TV doesn't mean the Academy shouldn't have escorted Will out by security. Will Packer as a hired individual doesn't see he's going to be the Academy's scapegoat. They are lucky Chris isn't suing the Academy for perpetuating an unsafe working environment. It had to be stressful to remain there while his assailant was comforted in the mist of a breakdown, given an award and praised like a king with that standing ovation.
@TheDreamClairvoyant2 жыл бұрын
Chris Rock didn’t want Will Smith removed from the awards show or he didn’t want the police to take him to jail? Perhaps the producer misunderstood and that part needs to be clarified. His removal from the show should not depend on Chris alone but rather the academy themselves who knew he broke conduct.

They’re probably thinking it’s more complex considering Chris rock went off script. He didn’t really have to come after Jada like that so the producer is probably a little more hands off at that point and putting it on Chris because he’s the one who said what he said. I bet you if it was on script, it would’ve been looked at differently. It definitely would not have fallen on Chris it would’ve fallen on the writers and more of the Academy. This was strictly between the two men. Chris rock didn’t want Will Smith removed from the show, nor did he want the police involved. He just wanted to show to go on.

I’m a producer. This producer did not do the right thing. He didn’t need chris’s (the victim and his employee - not a friend in this scenario) permission to arrest Will (a guest - not a friend in this scenario). Chris was not in charge of the Oscar’s - he was. The fact that he let this go based on the employee’s feelings to guest relationship showed he’s a weak producer. He showed the world he don’t know how to handle violent issues properly under his command and he can’t separate friends from work. This isn’t a fight in his home between the two of them - this was a slap in front other guests in a place that was not his, in front of tv that broadcasted over the world, which he do not own. His job was to keep all this employees and all his guests mentally and physically safe. He failed.

I work in a large hospital (company). If someone hired by the company (employee) is assaulted by someone, the company’s Human Resource department doesn’t ask the employee if they want action taken against the assailant, they just enforce the company’s no-tolerance for violence, harassment, discrimination, etc. policies. An assault against an employee is an assault against the company. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a highly profitable company. It nets in the neighborhood of $40M-$50M per year. For the 2022 Academy Awards Show, Chris Rock was hired as a Presenter (employee). An employee of the company was assaulted. There is no reasonable excuse why the company didn’t take swift and decisive action and immediately invoke legal action. Hats off the Chris Rock’s professionalism, but the company let him and all who value justice down. At this point the Academy is equally at fault and paramount to accessory to the assault.

Do not leave the call up to the one who was assaulted, especially minutes after it occurred. If I was Chris I would have said the same thing. As a victim you're thinking of diluting the embarrassment, making people believe you are fine, making others comfortable. These are classic thoughts. Fine, can't press charges. But that took place in the academy's house, streaming to families around the world, witnessing a blatant act of unprovoked violence. Comedy clubs wouldn't let someone do that and stay because it sets a tone for what's permissible - they should have REMOVED him.

The victim should never be put in the position to be responsible to decide what happens next, immediately after an assault and battery. The fact that the academy and/or academy affiliates are using Chris's statements (directly after the assault) as rationale for not ejecting Will Smith is absolutely despicable. In the fact they are slapping him again by trying to use his statements as justification. It's disgusting. Hollywood is a good example of when the Rule of Equity (ROE) supersedes the Rule of Law (ROL). Historically, the ROE was specifically created for the British Monarchy, where the Royals were given "Equity Points" (EPs) for their royalty, power, prestige, wealth, social status. The ROL, on the other hand, was created specifically for the non-Royals, the Commoners. The Royals were spotted certain EPs depending on their line of accession to the throne. The King or Queen was spotted infinity EPs, a prince or princess, duke or duchess, baron or baroness would be spotted a lower number from the King, Queen. But the Royals would have much more EPs than any Commoner. This allowed the Royals to rape, murder, torture, enslave the Commoners at will, since the ROE superseded the ROL meant for Commoners. In the U.S., there is no Monarchy, but there are those with wealth, power, fame, prestige, high social status, and their Equity Points are based on these characteristics. As a throwback to British Rule, the U.S. continued w/ the British system of having 2 governing laws: (1) ROE, (2) ROL. And as a throwback, in the U.S., the ROE supersedes the ROL. The Founding Fathers detested the ROE and worked hard to eradicate this in the U.S. legal system; they felt that the ROE was another manifestation of Tyranny. But the ROE crept back in via many SCOTUS rulings in the past two centuries. Hence, this is why some peeps are given special consideration not afforded to others. In Hollywood, Smith has more EPs than Rock. Hence, this is why the LAPD, Academy Awards honchos are giving Smith more consideration, leniency.

I truly believe that the reason Chris was so calm and “collected” was that he was still in shock. He shouldn’t have even been asked to make the decision to have him arrested or not. You can still be in shock days later, it wasn’t his responsibility to decide what should happen because he wasn’t in the correct head space to make decisions and of course he would want to have everything continue smoothly. But the fact that he was able to be assaulted on stage and no one come to help or stop it, they had a responsibility to HIM to remove him immediately. The security of the facility should have removed him right then and there and then the police could have figured out what to do. But to put that on to Chris isn’t fair or right. Let me give an example that is very different.. but could relate to his mindset. I knew a girl in high school that was assaulted by the star football player of our school. Our football team was about to go to the championship. She requested that he not be expelled because at the time, she hadn’t processed what happened and she knew people would be angry and blame her if he were expelled and unable to play in the championship. Even though it would obviously not be her fault, she wanted to brush it off because he was well liked by everyone. This should have never been her responsibility to decide what happened to him, he should have been removed because it’s the right thing to do. And I’m sure now years later she wishes she wouldn’t have said he could stay but that’s because she’s had time to process it. I think Chris kind of felt the same way in the moment, like no no just continue the show it’s fine.. don’t kick him out etc. because he knew many people in the audience and the world would have blamed him for that. But it shouldn’t have even been an option for him to have to consider.

Chris is a better man than me. I understand why he didn't want to press charges, but I would still sue the holy living bat crap out of Will. Plus, I would sue the Oscars. They let Will accept his award, laugh and play around on stage and attend the after party. I would sue both the Oscars & Will for $1 million per minute that Will got to stay in the building after he attacked. But hey. Just another rich jerk doing whatever he wants with NO CONSEQUENCES. If anyone has heard the podcast where Chris Rock opens up about being bullied when he was younger it makes this whole situation so much worse. He was beaten and punched so much in school his defense was to joke and accept it. Very similar to what happened at the oscars. Just sad to see that he was probably brought back to that moment.
@martina52962 жыл бұрын
OMG! That's so heartbreaking. He really showed class beyond measure after he Will Smith violently assaulted him. He probably had horrible nightmares or some other type of ptsd that night reliving his childhood trauma. I hope he's doing well. Because getting bullied by others (especially kids) is sometime not easy to get over as we grow up into good, competent and well behaved adults.

I was at Chris Rock’s show last night in Boston, some of the people in the audience started cursing Will Smith and tried to get the rest of us to chant with them. Chris quickly shut that down saying “it’s all good, it’s all good”. The people were removed and Chris went about telling his jokes that he had already prepared, none about this incident. Yes they do need to ask the victim because there is no point in arresting him if it's just going to be dropped afterwards. If the victim won't testify then there is no case. So then resources are being wasted. Paperwork, time, he would be out on his own recognizance in an hour.
