She should’ve won at least once sometime between the 1980s and the 2000s for any of her iconic compositions tbh. No Time To Die deserved that award, but not her song. The Academy did her so dirty for making her show up to the ceremonies for literally decades and endure loss after loss. At some point, the quality of her compositions declined and she kept getting nominated on the basis of name recognition alone. At least she finally got this honorary Oscar!

It's so sad that Billie Eilish won an Oscar at the age of 20 for a song. But, the Oscars refused to give Diane an Oscar for 34 years and finally gave an honorary Oscar for her body of work. The Oscars and Grammys are always out of touch in recognizing talent in their prime and only relent to giving due praise when the artists have been around for decades. That''s what happened to The Beatles, Elvis and even Madonna who never won either award in the first ten years of their careers.

Nah, if we’re going by the actual quality, it should have been Racing Extinction’s Manta Ray. But Bond themes generally have better luck in the category, so Sam Smith won it, for better or worse.
