I spy a Polara in your setup, great reverb pedal. The MidiHub is by far the best MIDI router for the price, nothing compares.

This little wonder has just made a quantum leap with intro of "virtual mappings" and *lots* more. Of the new pipe enhancements, I'm not sure which might excite you most: Maybe 'Chord Up|Down' in Dispatcher, letting you hive off the lowest/highest few notes of a chord to do extra magic with them, maybe Harmonizer's new Inversion addition? (The latter coupled with LFO-driven Inversion changes could be cool) I think you'll like the new *true* S&H LFO,too! Who knows, might inspire you to make another great video?! Thanks for all your work.

I also have a MidiHub and love this tool. I use it for literally everything MIDI related, like controlling my Behringer rack mixer with Arturia Keylab faders while splitting the keyboard to different hardware synths at the same time. It's also my MIDI clock master (controlled with an encoder of the Keylab) and much more! :-)

A happy surprise to find you'd made another video with the midihub. Your first vid was intriguing enough that I got one, after also watching loopop's video. This device seems sadly overlooked as it is capable of so many creative operations, especially as demonstrated by you. Good job!

Nice video man. One thing I should mention about mapping is that don’t have a sequencer running when you hit that MAP button. It will take the note inputs as the mapped function. Not a big deal to unmap, stop the seq and do it correctly. But it gets me every time. Every time. You’d think I’d learn.

Hello and welcome to: "this is why I didn't do the video with a sequencer involved because I am exactly the same".

The bee’s knees! What is generating clock in this example? In order to integrate this into a full setup you’d ideally want the MIDIHUB arp to follow an external clock. Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks a lot, your content is almost as good as your voice 🫠
@OscillatorSink Жыл бұрын
It can generate clock itself (which I think is what I'm doing here) or just have the patch recieve clock from another source on one of the inputs.

it would be really nice if you could define the range after mapping a knob. similar to the mapping mode in ableton.

I am fascinated by this thing... I considered getting a Launchpad Pro to be able to input appropriate scales and chords, and arps, into my Digitone or Digitakt without being too fluent with the music theory. But, I still have a spare Novation Circuit (and Launch Control XL). Is my assumption correct, that I can accomplish even more with the Midihub (+Circuit) than with the Launchpad Pro? - btw. I just ordered it from the Blokas website to give it a try.

thanks for your video. do you know if there is any way to make half of my midi keyboard (lets say C1 to C3) in arp mode while making the rest of the keyboard (C#3 to C5) stay in normal mode?
@OscillatorSink2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could use a Note Filter pipe before the arpeggiator to discard input outside of the range of notes you want (then use another note filter to pass through everything else). The note filters can be used to set up as many splits for processing as you want actually, they're very useful - you can set up zones on your keyboard to redirect midi to different channels for example, or reduce the velocity range of the bottom half of the keyboard so that bass notes always hit hard etc.

Would this work with a stand-alone USB midi controller too, like the Korg Nanocontrol? And is it possible to make the Midihub decide the pitch and triggering of the notes too, creating a stand-alone step sequencer?

Thank you! I own a midihub starting to explore. Question: is it possible to setup the same sequence of notes but randomize the note length of each? also: do u need midihub software for playing live?

First question - I can't remember, sorry, that will be a question for the documentation. Second question - no, the processing is all done on the hub.

Can you add a sort of permanent micro pitch bend to all notes coming out of the MidiHub? For example, can I make every note I play on the midi controller -32 cents going out to the synths connected to the MidiHub?
@OscillatorSink4 ай бұрын
I'd have to check if there's an appropriate pipe, but I'm pretty sure you could send a static pitch bend message. BUT: the range of pitch bend is a parameter governed by the synth (ususlly per patch if it has presets) so you'd have to ensure that every preset you used had the same maximum pitch bend amount.
@danbowen78833 жыл бұрын
Can you send the settings to the midihub or do you need a computer attached all the time? Scratch that. Just seen the previous video
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
Once the settings are sent there and saved to one of the preset slots you can take the Midihub away with you - the computer is only needed for building / uploading patches. The patches can be *big* as well - each of those ins and outs can be doing different jobs on different channels etc., merging and splitting as needed.

Hi, this looks like something i could make a chord trigger for my setup with monophonic sequencer. Is there a way to map key/scale and chord types to a knob or perhaps even record chords to a note? And to bypass with a midi cc would be important too. Thanks!
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
Any of the parameters you see on the screen can be CC mapped, so yes, you should absolutely be able to do that!

In controller mode, could you assign a beatstep pro pad to the sustain? acting like the hold button on a keystep?

Yeah, that should work I think, I'd have to check to be sure but in theory that sounds right.

@@OscillatorSink I should know it myself, but my BSP hasn't been used to it's full capacity. using it as a sequencer was more important, so far.

Was thinking the same. Also, in controller mode the pads/buttons could act like toggle switches. Make more sense than a rotary for things like mapping bypass etc
@markjeffery32373 жыл бұрын
Great vid, but I just cannot get the arp module to work. If I bypass it, midi notes flow through the pipe, so to speak. I'm sending clock out from my control keyboard, and have tried sending clock from a second pipe, but nothing. Any ideas? Really frustrating!
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
You might want to check with Blokas directly, but are you certain that your controller is sending clock and that only one device is sending clock into Midihub?
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty certain that the clock needs to come into a port for the arp, not from a generator, but I might be wrong.
@markjeffery32373 жыл бұрын
Worked it out - user error. Even tho I'd set up my dins to send and receive clock, I had inadvertently left clock source on auto. Changed it to master, and I'm in business. @@markjeffery3237 it's always something simple like that. Getting the midi configuration right on all the devices as your setup gets larger is always a pain but when it all clicks - it's a chef's kiss moment.

How is the beatstep linked to the hub ?
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
Just with a MIDI cable.
@breadwarandcircus3 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean, is there a PC involved? Yes there is a PC involved. USB routing: Midihub--PC--Beatstep If you are using this with a CC controller that uses USB midi, there has to be a PC between. There may be a way with a USB host to old school midi converter to drop the PC, but I am yet to get one to try with my Midihub and beatstep
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
@@breadwarandcircus there isn't a PC involved in the routing here - MIDI cable straight from the Beatstep Pro into the Midihub. Just using one of minijack to 5 pin din adapters that comes with the BSP. You could take this setup and use it live without a PC at all.
@breadwarandcircus3 жыл бұрын
@@OscillatorSink I see. In that case I have all the bits I need already. So the oldskool midi out of the beatstep is mapped to the midi input A on the Midihub even though it isn't plugged into input A?
@breadwarandcircus3 жыл бұрын
I suppose that would only have negative implications if you were using the midi-learn while things are running (with CC being used by other things in the sequence)
