Oscilloscope VS Television - the CRT

Why is a TV able to have a wide screen while oscilloscopes continued to have narrow screens? This explains the cathode ray tube (CRT) and time measurement that keeps it working.
The picture size is smaller on an oscilloscope as it uses an electrostatic system and this is good for accuracy in measurement. Scan rates, linearity and other factors are differences. Early televisions used a optical lens, later televisions could use a stronger electron beam lens (using magnetic fields) to bend the beam to be wider and wider as time went on. Engineers improved the electron beam lens in TV to the point where screens were almost flat before the CRT was retired from use and LEDs, LCD flatscreens took over. Crystals and capacitors were used for timing to make TV work. Scanning, sweep rates, and other parts of TV transmission couldn't happen without time measurement devices in technology, that is the focus of this unit in our Universe of Instrumentation program.
