I am Yoruba but I can’t get tired listening to this song as an enthusiast of Benin history particularly on the events that preceded the Punitive Expedition of 1897 and its aftermath. This song is a theatrical presentation of that unfortunate incident that occurred in the history of the Benin Kingdom. It is the only song that brings tears out of my eyes. God bless Pa Monday Edo for his legendary performance.

Such a shame that I can't speak or understand my language. When I was young I could fight people who call me an Edo boy because i claim that i am a yoruba boy since I was born and breed in Lagos. However, going up and now listening to this song without understanding what they are saying but I could feel a connection with my ancestor. I could feel the pain of what he is singing which I have never felt b4. I will read more on who ogbaisi is and also reflect more on myself and accept my culture, learn my language and accept who I am as a benin boy.
