I'm nearing 50 now and this brings me right back to being in 7th and 8th grade. This cartoon was my wind-down show after getting home from school and before I started homework. I'm so sure I watched every episode (more than once!) I used to get so annoyed when this was substituted for a lame afterschool special or some other cartoon. Oh, for the days when those were the biggest stressors in life! Thank you WTXX, Waterbury-New Haven CT, in their pre-CW days.

I’m 41 and I feel you this was definitely part of the after school cartoon lineup at one point. From Wikipedia: "Although both 'Heathcliff' and 'The Catillac Cats' are set in the city of Westfinster, only Hector, Wordsworth and Mungo appear in both segments. When the trio appears in 'Heathcliff' episodes, Hector is depicted as the leader of the group. Riff-Raff and Cleo never appeared in a 'Heathcliff' episode (though Riff-Raff is present in a crowd scene cheering for Heathcliff as he fights a dog, and is mentioned a couple of times), and neither Heathcliff nor any other characters from the 'Heathcliff' series (with the small exception of the fish store owner who did have a brief cameo in one 'Catillac Cats' episode) ever appeared in a 'Catillac Cats' episode. The reason is unclear, but some suspect that the McNaught company who owned Heathcliff did not want any outside characters appearing on the series. Many say that heathcliff copied Garfield and vice versa but heathcliff comics came out 1973 and Garfield comics came out 1978(well he was in the funny pages in 1976 but not as the main character. John was than 2 years later Garfield took over)

Jim Davis mentioned that when he started writing Garfield,that Heathcliff was the only cat based comic and Jim wanted to provide a more laid back cats more how his own cat acted and Garfield was born.

I'm so glad I discovered this cartoon. I love Heathcliff! I had one of the Sonic SatAM Sonic Goes Green DVD with this theme song in it and thank God this show came to Starz along with Inspector Gadget and Garfield and Friends last year. They just took SMB3 and Sonic SatAM off the air this month which kinda suck but it was worth watching them.

I think this aired on cartoon network when I didn't know english very well so as much I enjoyed the visuals and animation I couldn't really tell what was going on most of the time. The intro kicks ass though. The car transformation scene especially had to take some serious work. And oh my gosh, Cleo looks so good. Such a simple yet elegant design.
