This autor did an incredible job on this series and character, never liked this series and i was only on fighting animes and series but this blew up my mind, doesnt have the crazy animation of demon slayer but gaves the same feeling and its even trippy if you dont pay atention and tahts perfect. Theyre relation ship seems stupid but it get better and better, starting whit aqua thinking if he really loves her or no and to be sure he takes her by hes side for hes plan but after it just gets better.

I ship this, i'd rather have Kana not end up with Aqua and have more character development. (Slight spoiler) I just can't dismiss the fact that Akane is the one Aqua always turns to, she's the one he's most honest and vulnerable with even if he'd initially intend to use her, if you really think about it, Aqua is bad at sorting out his feelings, bro can't even tell if his feelings for Ai is a mere idolization or romantic.

Even before that he already planning on dump her tbh. I mean in chapter 81 the page when he and Akane having a phone call had a waning crescent moon in it. The symbolistic of waning crescent moon is to end relationship. Plus I don't think Aqua hold any romantic feeling either for Akane or Kana consider he is conscious that he is a 30 year old. That's why when he dating Akane he just being rational adult because he know Akane is a fragile person and emotional depended on him.

Yk he was about to Akane's life in a chapter but in next chapter phew she lived. Akane is the only one who he can share his burden to. In fact he(gorou) did said that "Did you think you meet someone who understand you when you meet Akane Kurokawa".I personally dont think he has any romantic feelings for anyone but his interactions to Akane just make it feels like he genuinely cares about her. The break up just make my point more clear. He didn't want her to be in the path he is walking. He too knows that his path is self destructive so he made sure to cut all ties to her.

That's why I said he care yes but love no. Even in chapter 87 Aqua also purposely avoiding to intimate with her like why he brought 2 umbrella when fetching her, only Akane that like to intimate with him by refusing the second umbrella. This also because even Akane by appearance look like someone matured but she still really childish in way of decisions making or handling any problems consider Aqua also sort of help her with her problem in work place like in chapter 81 when Akane told Aqua about the sound crew in her workplace. Also if he happy he should forget his guilt and rather being a surgeon he should continue Ai wishes to be an actor. But in chapter 83 during conversation with Memcho, Aqua choose to be a surgeon and not gynaecologist like in his past life because Ai died by stabbing wound while in past life his mom died while giving birth to him. That's why I said his guilt complex become more worse during that period of time when he dating Akane.
