@testafrederic70184 жыл бұрын
@David Mack The fact you express this reveals your inner doubts, because only the non obvious needs to be said in life. And I understand your confusion, because this man can be quiet destabilizing. On a side it is clear he has tremendous intelligence, but on the other side his life style can look quiet shocking. And it is where he has to be understood, Osho wanted (and he says it clearly) to break the mind, and for this he had to make himself a clown, to create such a contradiction that the mind can't get it. How can such a wise man collect 90 Rolls Royce ? But don't you see ? Why not 5 or 10 when it is more than enough? Because he wanted to shock people, with a clear purpose to get attention to spread his message and to break our mind pattern. We expect from a Buddha to live with great humbleness, to help the poor, to dress with a white robe. Osho tried to show great spirituality is not opposite to great material achievement. He wanted to join both dimensions of life, meditation and celebration, including of wordly things. He is maybe the only example of a guru who reconciled the two dimensions of life to make man complete. But if you can't get the contradiction, if you listen too much to your mind and not to your heart and intuition in spite of apparences, you'll miss the priceless teaching of this beautiful and unique master. Yes, he looks like a clown. And deepest truths in life are always revealed by clowns, because God loves so much paradoxes. A truth has to be deserved, and apparences overcame to access to it. "If he looks like a Buddha, if he talks like a Buddha, run away."

In my school, the fact that Euclid's definitions were not, strictly speaking, true; was admitted from the very beginning. The teachers asked us to accept the definitions for the moment because one could then derive useful results from those assumptions. They also told us about non-Euclidean geometries one could study in college. In other words, merely asking searching questions was never considered a "disturbance" in my school. Neither did I ever have any such experiences in college.

People sometimes have a hard time admitting that they are ignorant of certain things. However, I find the greatest liberation one can achieve is to admit that they do not know with certainty that everything they've been told is true. To me this is a necessary admission if one wishes to search for true understanding. To admit that there are things we do not know is an honest statement which leaves room for the idea that anything is possible. Starting with a clean slate - free from all past impressions accumulated in our minds allows us to seek understanding from a perspective of experience rather than relying on blind faith. Taking this position allows us to view everything as it is without presuppositions. That is not to say that what we have learned cannot be considered - it simply means that what we have learned from others is different from what we have experienced ourselves. From here we can seek to understand ourselves and our world without polluting our views with what we've been told to believe. From here we can begin to see more clearly the forces involved in creating this phenomenon we call life. Seek to expand your view of the universe and creation by first accepting your own ignorance.
@jasonf89104 жыл бұрын
I love the depth of Osho's inquisition, but wonder why he didn't ask what the length and width of a 'point' is. What if we change the question to "Does the thickness of the line matter, or can we ABSTACT this to this to a line of any thickness?" The reason math is so useful is that it is not 'theoretical' , but rather, it is abstractable, and thus truthful.

Thanks for the appreciation😇. Subtitling of any OSHO Talk is taken care of by volunteers from around the globe, as part of the OSHO Talks Video Translation project. We shared your comment with the translator. Also maybe you would know someone, who would like to register and join the Osho Video Translation Project as a volunteer on www.OSHOTALKS.com, so that soon many more videos are available with Hindi subtitles. Check out the playlist on KZbin with many videos already having Hindi subtitles bit.ly/2SXzmdn Love, OSHO International Team

The exact same thing I was asking myself and now I'm thinking that time is also hypothesis. For example: Some one talks about time in form of one hour. The hour has, had or will have a beginning and has, had or will have an end. So the start of the hour was in the past, is in the present or will be in the future. The same thing for the end of the hour and you can't make an hour out of two points that are in the present and the only thing that exists, is the present. So an hour does not exist. It is hypothesis.

Thomas Little Heath's translation of Euclid's elements says that a point is that which has no part. This means that it is indivisible but not of 0 dimension. This is not equivalent to saying that a point has no length nor breadth.
