I could see this being a possibly common pairing on a battlefield - a pike or poleman has lost their main weapon and drawn a sword against an opponent bearing a shield as well. Shields are a tough puzzle to crack.

Savage Insight in addition to this most pole arm users wouldn't be using a longsword So they'd be at an even huger disadvantage Although on the other hand they'd probably have a shield Longswords are more common among people in full plate armour

I saw in the Stefan vs Matthys Stefan was extremely aggravated by his inability to get by the shield and win, I see on this one Matthys getting very aggravated by Oskar getting by that shield time and time again.

i have 0 experience with HEMA but i just came here from watching a TERRIBLE sword n shield buy vs a 2handed sword, aaaah so relieved to see this guy use it right he kept shield in center & only raised it as needed so it didn't blind him he pushed forward (that shield bash espetially when he lost hes sword, wow, dude crossed some distance) and just, yeah cheers, thank u for showing me a more experience sword n shield 2 handed guy was also wicked fast
