Hmm...I wonder if starting the ball on the 3rd step (of a 5-step approach) instead of the 2nd step would make it unnecessary/unnatural to have the skip step. ?

Sam Bailey Maybe. I believe it does help. (Some one-handers have a skip while some two-handers do not.)
