such a great video. while appreciating it i would like to make a small correction. that is momentum equals to mass* velocity but not volume. it is a vectoral entity and has to have a specific direction.

The GLUT transport proteins are the carrier proteins that transport glucose by facilitated diffusion but do we also count the carrier proteins that transport glucose through secondary active transport against their electrochemical gradient as members of the GLUT proteins?(I do realise that this might be a dumb question)

I love your videos. I do have a question on your calculation. You say that 1 osmol gives 19.3 mmHg osmotic pressure. Then you calculate the plasma osmotic pressure doing 290 times 19.3. But the plasma osmolality is in mili-osmol. Isn't there missing a factor 1000 somewhere?

Each mOsmole contributes about 19.3mmHg. the mistake is in here

Sir, u said osmotic pressure is mainly dertermined by sodium, and at the same time u say that the oncotic pressure is determined by albumin. If osmotic and oncotic are nearly the same. Then sodium or albumin exactly which of these 2 ?

Osmotic and oncotic are not synonymous…Oncotic pressure is a subtype of osmotic pressure. I hope that helps!

Thank you! Osmosis works best when the molecule is numerous (abundant) and ionizable (charged)...Therefore, sodium is more osmotically significant as compared to glucose. Hope it helps!

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis so if I had two chambers separated by a membrane and one chamber contained plasma while another contained pure water, the pure water would traverse through the membrane to dilute the plasma chamber but create a negative pressure of 5597 mmHg? So basically the apparatus would implode?

Youre absolutely awesome and reallyyyy helpful. My lifeline through med school. However, im a little confused. Did we not measure the osmolarity in the practice questions, as opposed to the osmolality? Because osmolality is supposed to be per kg?

P = M x V where V is velocity, NOT volume, you nitwit. Also, you reference osmolality (osm/kg), when in fact you are talking about osmolarity (osm/L). Hope you are not a practicing physician...
