Thank you for a very concise and honest review, it's so helpful to see them side by side! 😃

I'm torn I love my farpoint 55 but I thought the detachable pack was small and useless so I always leave it at home. Getting by with 40 was ok but sometimes found it to be a bit small. I'm thinking about the new 50 fairview but worried that it would be too big, esp for carry on baggage.

"I bought the Fairview Trek 50 women's model because I noticed it's smaller than the Fairview Trek 55 for men. Is there a genuine difference since it's designed for women, or can a man use it as well?"

Does anybody here have experiences with the Track as carry on cabin luggage? Do airlines stress?

I really enjoyed this review and found it to be helpful on buying my first backpack for travel BUT I was wondering what colour is your fairview trek in? I noticed there are only two colours available but your colour looks different.
@TravelingJackie5 жыл бұрын
You are correct - mine was one of the first samples so the color did change a bit. The amulet purple is darker and a bit bluer.

I found your channel by chance Jackie and I love it! Your review has been really enjoyable and useful. So here's a question, what size is your Farpoint 55 ? S/M or M/L? I'm buying one today and fingers crossed hoping to be as lucky as you to get this on board as a carry on. Thanks so much!
@TravelingJackie4 жыл бұрын
With the Farpoint 55, the S/M is carry on size, the M/L is "not" but you could probably still swing it if you don't overpack it!

Thanks, I loved the video! Can you help me find the Osprey Fairvew Trek in that burgundy color? I can only find it in deep purple or charcoal grey
@TravelingJackie4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately this color was a sample color, so you cannot purchase it. The available colors are black, blue, grey, and amulet purple, depending on Farpoint or Fairview.

Can you use the trek 50 with another day backpack?? And if yes how many liters maximum do you think?

hi @Traveling Jackie is the 50 L a carry on?

Hi, can you attach your day bag from the original Fairview to this Fairview trek one?

Do you have what the 70l look like? Do you think it would be too big?
@TravelingJackie5 жыл бұрын
The 70L looks exactly the same, but it's much bigger. It'll be too big for carry-on, if that's what you're asking. I recommend going smaller anyway. Packs above 65 get unnecessarily big and heavy for most trips. Pack less, you'll be much happier. For a carry-on packing guide - see thebudgetmindedtraveler.com/carryon

Hi Guys, is there a pocket built-in for a laptop? I tried looking at the features but it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere...
@PowderRider2329 күн бұрын
You could use the bladder pocket if needed but there's no laptop specific sleeve inside.

Can the trek 50 be carried on if not stuffed

I'm a 6 foot male and bought the Farpoint 55 in S/M size because it is significantly shorter than the M/L size, never had a problem to take it in the cabin. As seen in the video, the Fairview Trek 50 has roughly the same length as the Farpoint 55 SM. I'm contemplating getting the Fairview 50 for myself due to added trekking features, however the internal zip pocket is missing and the new curved shaped backplate might be bothersome when carrying a laptop inside, bummer.

Are the zipper of the trek lockable like the Fairview? I like to lock my pack in the hostel?
@TravelingJackie5 жыл бұрын
The double zipper comes with a loop pull tab on each, so you could lock those tabs together if you want to. But the loops are made out of cord material, not metal.
@jackienourse48535 жыл бұрын
Yes, they have lockable metal rings on the zippers

Do you know when they will release the new fairpoint 40?
@TravelingJackie5 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, there is not a new Farpoint 40 coming out, so that one is available now!

How come you choose 50l instead of 70l?
@Jv808UHM4 жыл бұрын
Because the more space you have, the more you carry....which means more weight...and not easy to get around...and it becomes a pain in the ass having a giant pack with stuff you won’t even use

S THERE ANY DIFFERENT BEETWEN WOMAN AND MEN VERSIO? I WANTED TO BUY A 55 WOMAN VERSION BUT ITS SAID THAT IS ION THE SAME SIZE AS 70 ONE, IS IT A TRUTH? AND THE MAN 55 IS SMALLER
@TravelingJackie Жыл бұрын
For the Trek version, the women's is a 50L, the men's is a 55L and it is bigger.

Tuck the pole handles into the water bottle holder and secure the poles with the straps on the side of the pack.

@@TravelingJackie OK.Thanks a lot for the reply. does fairview trek 70 fit 170 cm tall guy well? or farpoint trek 75 better?

@@weitao9244 Best bet is to get to a store to try them on, but I would imagine the Farpoint Trek (which is made for men) would fit better

Has anyone used the Fairview trek 50 for carry on?? If so let me know!
@TravelingJackie5 жыл бұрын
I've carried it on to Europe and South America and back, no problems! Just keep it away from scales, keep it on your back so no one questions it. Also, using a smaller personal item will draw less attention, but it fits fine in all the overhead bins in my experience, only issue would be weight if you're over and an airline were to require that you weight it.

@@TravelingJackie Just came back from a journey Amsterdam-Munich & Munich-Amsterdam. (Lufthansa airlines, Airbus 320) I used Fairpoint trek 55 as my carry-on. My thoughts: 1. Noone at the airport asked me to check the size of my carry on. 2. I checked the size myself in the special "test" boxes at the airport. And technically you cannot use it as a carry on (metal frame too big), even if you rotate and put it diagionally it won't fit. 3. The lenght (longest dimension) actually fits PERFECTLY in the cabin, despite it being 7cm longer. It's because the end of the luggage space is rounded and normal carry-ons made of plastic with fixed high don't fit there at the end, where backpack adjusts itself and fills the hole gap. Conclusion: Officially it's too big to be a carry on, but if you manage to get through the gate (ticket control) it fits in BETTER than a regular plastic box carry on. I hope this message helps Kind Regards, Michal Kowalski
