I recently bought the Nebula for my main work bag, replacing an Osprey Aeode backpack. The nebula fits my work work laptop, notebook, bluetooth speaker, and other daily essentials without any issue. In the wintertime, it will hold extra layers or my winter gear. I work at an airport. If I know there is a possibility I may be stuck at a hotel due to weather , the nebula can be used as an overnight bag, too. Yes, it's too long for me, but everything else about the bag works. Now, I need to find something 20 to 25 liters for going to the park, zoo, personal item, etc. I'm looking at the Patagonia Atomic tote or maybe the refugio.

Great insights! The Nebula really does make a great bag for a weekend trip. We have a Patagonia Atom Tote Pack review and a Refugio 26L vs 32L comparison video on our channel if you are interested. Love the Atom Tote Pack as a smaller daypack and the Refugio 26L is basically the same pack but with a larger main compartment - our main grip with the 26L is that is should have more pockets. But choosing between the two is really about deciding how much packing space you need.

@Backpackies when I was at REI looking at backpacks, one of the employees showed me the refugio 26. I agree. It could use more pockets. That's why I did not choose it for my work bag. Right now, I'm leaning towards the atom. It will fit under an airplane seat and can be used for everyday activities. I just wish everyday carry bags would take a cue from hiking packs and incorporate load lifters more often. Rei is also releasing an updated version on the Ruckpack it, which is the other backpack I'm considering.

Good comparison, thank you. I own Quasar 26 and very like it. Have had before about 10-12 different EDC backpack 🎒 and now this Quasar is my favorite now for day usage. Nebula is great for weekend trips when you need more space as you mentioned. But nebula has to much space especially for me as EDC backpack. Also side belts are truly annoying for daily use, I had similar backpack but finally sold it.

I use the Nebula as a baby bag; the fold down laptop sleeve holds changing supplies, main compartment clothes, admin compartment snacks, the outside pouch holds jackets and the water bottle holders hold all the drinks

I think I'm the only one with something wrong 😉😂🙈. I went to the shops several times and tried on very different backpacks, some of which I ordered online then sent back (refunded with no problem). As for me the most comfortable Osprey backpacks. I have the Quasar model. The North Face Borealis backpack has better organisation. But so what if my back hurt terribly after putting this backpack on, it pinched my shoulders. I tried on some of their brand new backpacks (2024) dedicated to women or universal.

They are both very similar but the Osprey Quasar feels like its better quality and has a more substantial, and breathable, back panel and shoulder straps. You are just sacrificing packing space with the Quasar because it's smaller.

Unfortunately it's not designed to be easily removed. You could pry it off but it might damage the clip that's holding it in place.

Are the Quasar's daisy chains load-bearing, or just there to hold the bungees?

The daisy chains on the Osprey Quasar backpack are primarily designed for attaching lightweight items and securing the bungee cord. They really aren't intended to be load-bearing in the sense of carrying heavy weight since the daisy chains are only held together by some stitching. Hope this helps!

Good question! Yes, they both can stand on their own as long as you don't pack them to be too front heavy. The Quasar especially likes to tip if the weight of packing on the inside isn't even.

Thank you!! Both will be fine for women but the Quasar does have a shorter height. If you usually find many mens/unisex backpacks too long on the back then definitely go with the Quasar.
