When brand new, the bladder is almost like glued together in the opening. You have do what feels like tearing it apart to open it. That should really be shown in detail how it is done. For those coming for that; When taking off the slider at the top, and unfolding it, the part that should actually open is the first piece of plastic that sticks out from the top, the stiff kind-of-broad part. The start of the opening is not in the bend, which i though at first. If you look closely it looks to be welded at the edges, and there might be some air trapped between the actual weld, and what is actually the opening (Which also looks to be welded together). For measure; I guess the force required to open mine the first time was roughly 1kg.

A little tip for drying after washing. The ring for a small mouth Mason jar lid fits perfectly in the opening to allow for drying after washing. I use a spring clip on the seam at the bottom of the bag to hang it upside down and dry out.

@@purplelucrezia For the last year or so, I've been using a loop of string threaded through where the tube attaches to the reservoir for hanging. I like it better than the spring clip and it opens the bottom (top while hanging) of the reservoir more for better air circulation.

I've just bought my reservoir, and have had absolutely no problem opening the slider. Perhaps there's been a material change. My only negative is echoed by others. The bite valve cover should be standard and an instruction manual would be rather helpful rather than searching on KZbin! Same applies to their excellent rucksacks. I'm still finding the secret features of my Stratos pack, which I absolutely love.

It’s taken me ages to work out how to open the mouth of the bladder. I thought I was breaking it trying to peel it open. I bought an Osprey hydration pack, and I'll probably give it away. It's heavy, overly-complicated, and loaded with tricky features that don't seem to work as well as intended. It seems like this pack was a test platform for a bunch of designers' experimental ideas, which is great if they work, but frustrating when they don't. I'll take it to the trail for testing, to see if it'll grow on me, but my first impression is that someone really over-thought this one.
@timothyds74536 жыл бұрын
Make sure to order a "quick release" kit if you want to remove the bladder without having to remove the entire tube since it doesn't come with the bladder by default; e.g. like with my new Raptor 14 bag.
@RichardBuckerCodes7 жыл бұрын
I have several platypus and camelbak hydro-like bags. I simply do not like them. Depending on the size they reduce the overall pack volume forcing you to put gear in the external pockets. AND no matter what smartwater bottles are cheaper. *HOWEVER* There is a time and place for the osprey model. Sure they weigh just a little more with the ridged stiffener on the larger models but until you've experienced trying to insert into a partially full pak... The part about the sloshing and the other quick-connect seems counter intuitive. [a] having the tall quick-connect is cool because you do not have to stick you hand deep into the pack to make the connection. This is a stronger reason than "switching sides". [b] but the combination of features does not seem to support the "invert and suck the air to reduce sloshing" The prices are pretty good and on par with the competition. The other accessories also seem useful.
@emraldeyz1 Жыл бұрын
The only improvement that I could suggest is some sort of locking mechanism that keeps the slide seal in place. If you accidentally grab that it can slide right off and dump the whole bag. Ask me how I know.

Hello, the Talon 22 can fit either a 3L or 2.5L - it really depends on the length of your trip and if you prefer a rigid backing on your reservoir. The 3L is nice for longer days on the trail but the 2.5 is nice for lighter days. Cheers!

@terrykorenowski27367 жыл бұрын
Mike, you've probably figured it out by now, but the sternum strap magnet is attached to the hose clip magnet - you just need to separate them, and affix the sternum strap magnet to the sternum strap
@ospreypacks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! Sorry for the delay in reply. Which pack do you have? As Terry mentioned below, all of our hydration packs that come with a reservoir have the magnet included on the sternum strap for easy attachment. Otherwise, when you buy a reservoir, it comes with a sternum strap attachment that you can take on and off any pack you decide to use your reservoir with. You can also contact our warranty department to get a replacement magnet. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Osprey, I've just bought the Radial 26. I was just wondering if I can add a reservoir into the laptop compartment? If so which size is the most appropriate? Thanks
@ospreypacks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, the Radial 26 was designed for bike commuting so the designers left a reservoir sleeve out. While you could easily fit a 3L in the back compartment, there is no hidden hole for the hose to connect through so you'd have to use the zipper to hold it in. This pack was designed more to hold water bottles but could potentially be rigged to fit a reservoir. Hope that helps!

What about using my hydration reservoir for beer? I like to drink a beer after running - when I'm not driving home. Being on the public transit system it becomes questionable as to whether or not drinking a beer constitutes a breach of the law, and hiding it in the reservoir is a prefect solution. I have thought about the fact that beer generates gas inside the reservoir, and that could cause it to burst - so I drink often enough to prevent the buildup of gas, and don't lean back on the reservoir while riding the train or bus. Should I avoid beer, or any other beverage that produces gases inside the reservoir?

@ospreypacks8 жыл бұрын
Hi Oz, you can completely disconnect the hose on both ends. The fitting is probably pretty tight near the bottom of the reservoir from the factory but if you run it under warm water to help loosen it and then apply a fair amount of force, it will come out. The fitting may stay in the hose when you pull it out but that also be removed once the hose is disconnected. Let us know if you're still having trouble and we can make further suggestions.

great product but comes with a lot of poor and lack of instructions. i just bought a 2.5 L pack but it does not have a backplate? so i have no idea when they say the new bags come with a backplate, it doesn't. also how does a company assume that its customers will know how to use the product with absolutely no instructions whatsoever? if it wasn't for KZbin, i wouldn't have known how to use the bite valve. my water wouldn't come out at first and i wonder why bags don't come with a standard cover on the bite valve like every other brand? i mean if I'm gonna spend $90 on a hydration bag, I'd at least expect a cover for the bite valve, it's just standard hygiene that should be included. i bought this because of the company's value in a lifetime warranty so hopefully it holds up.

Hello! Thanks for your feedback. The 2 and 3L non-LT reservoirs have the back plating and all of our hydration packs come with the 2.5L version. We state this on the hangtag and product pages and we apologize that was confusing for you. We made this video and link to it from the reservoir materials in hopes of making the opening process easier. With the slider piece, customers should not be afraid to rip the top open; sometimes it's easy and sometimes it requires some elbow grease. We also provide owners manuals on the website for each of our products with instructions on how to use them. This link is also on the tag for each product :) We hope you enjoy your new pack and if you need a repair, please reach out to our amazing customer service team!

What's the difference LT and non-LT?
@ospreypacks7 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie, the LT means that those reservoirs are lighter and do not come with the hard backplate found on non-LT. Cheers!

Interesting comments as I have just brought a 1.5 ltr and the disconnecting the quick connect to put the tube on the correct side required hot water poured over it to release it. Not impressed 😏

Where to buy Bite Valve Cover (here it's on 1:30)? You don't even show it in your catalogue - www.ospreyeurope.com/gb_en/accessories

Hello O, the US got our new bite valve covers in this fall and Europe should have them too, they may just not be on the website. Please email info@ospreyeurope.com to request one and they can get you set up. Thanks!

Why do you recommend not using bleach?
@ospreypacks6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pedro, if not diluted and rinsed out properly, bleach can be very harmful to drink if any residue is left in the reservoir. Also, bleach may compromise the seams, making it harder for the reservoir to hold water. We recommend using lemon juice. You can find more cleaning tips here: www.osprey.com/us/en/fitting-learning/pack-care - Thanks!

I have been using a diluted bleach solution for cleaning all of my other hydration reservoirs for years. I would pour in a capful of bleach into about 1 pint of water, slosh it around for 5-10 seconds, let it run through the hose, then shake out and let the bladder hang upside-down to dry out. It prevented the buildup of mold in the hose and fittings. I never used to rinse out until I was ready to use again, thinking that the water I used to rinse might cause mold to grow. After watching the video, I will be using lemon juice instead. Makes sense. Maybe use lemon juice in plain water to drink too - I have read that it helps with electrolytes.

Have to say I’m not impressed so far....how are you supposed to air dry this thing with nothing to prop and keep the opening propped?
@ospreypacks5 жыл бұрын
We hear you! The cleaning kit was designed with the older reservoirs in mind. One tip we have is to put your reservoir in the freezer overnight to both dry it out and kill any bacteria before the next use. We hope that helps in the meantime!

I use a blow dryer on low, cold air. It works fine. I havent figured out drying the hose yet................

Great backpacks but when it comes to these Osprey bladders they’re an awful design. Ended up chucking mine and bought a 3ltr Camelbak bladder. Works and fits really well!

What happened to the good old model which only required one hand to fill. No dirty hand need to be around filling cap. The nice 360 degree mouth piece that turned off at 90 degree. Looks cheap, but still cost a lot. Price and design don't go together here. Sadly it looks more like a step backwards than an improvement.

My experionce with the 3L / Blue version: The Blue and Grey parts are hot-welded to the Bladder. This might result in leaks on the seam. My version was leaking from the start and I returned to my € 5 decathlon version. I have seen more productreviews about LEAKS with this version Not recommended.

Hello - thanks for that feedback. The reservoirs can be a little tricky to open but we're glad you figured it out. We have passed this on to our design team to hopefully fix with the update coming in a few seasons.

I bought my Osprey 3ltr Hydra pack on Osprey's reputation for making quality equipment. The Hydra pack shows every sign of quality but has a couple of very dumb features. Firstly the routing loops at the quick detachable connector are too small. There is no way to pass the disconnector through it, so one must fight with the bottom connector to change the tube from left to right hose feed. Secondly, Osprey evidently doesn't want you to use the Hydration system with another brand of pack. As the size of the opening to attach the hydration pack to the main pack, is too small, so the user has to come up with another method of attaching. We pay good money for quality gear and it is disappointing that small things like the above have not be thought through properly.

This is so bad product that I will return it to the shop were I bought it. I bought Osprey hydraulics reservoar LT 1,5 l and the insulated delivery system. It was almost impossible to change from the standard tube to the insulated tube. In addition, the connection to the bladder was so loose that it is a great risk to pull out the tube from det bladder. I did this and the water flow out on my living room floor. There was no information on how to change tubings, or how to fasten the bladder to my Osprey Talon 11. I am fed up with this product...
