Basically if it's an upgrade that you're considering, just get it. It'll be helpful in the long run, especially the bigger upgrades (avernic defender hilt, rigour, ghrazi rapier, dhcb, etc.) An upgrade is an upgrade and it'll make the game more enjoyable for you.

One thing you're not taking into account is the amount of money that can be made by merching and/or flipping when you have your bank liquidated. Not everyone is going to want to actually spend a significant amount of time flipping, but in many cases it's probably the most efficient way to make money.

Flipping is a great money maker you're right. Seems like a little different topic though. I can understand if you have say 100m in your bank and you do a lot of flipping that you wouldn't wanna buy some new gear and only leave yourself with like 5m left to work with. But I feel like those who are actively flipping a lot, and have enough money spend that this could come up, likely have either enough money to do both (assuming they're good at what they do) Or they aren't focused as much on PvM so this doesn't affect them as much. My comparison was also the idea that it's better to buy gear rather than let the money sit in your bank, but if you're flipping than the money isn't just sitting in your bank

Would have liked to see some numbers associated with the stats of a few base items and their upgrades as well as some math as to how much quicker you can kill common bosses like gwd, vorkath, zulrah etc. with said upgrades.

As someone who doesn't have 1b cash I can say not all upgrades are in your price range apparently. This topic is more about people who have the money to upgrade but don't know if they should. If you don't have enough money yet then you should spend more time on money makers (including PvM stuff) until you can afford

I found this video while searching for opinions concerning wether or not it’s worthwhile to spend the gp and time investing into getting Prayer from 74 to 77 to purchase and use the Augury Prayer. I’am primarily a PKer and so I go for upgrades that will pay off in a PKing aspect. Opinions?

I don't PK, so I can't really give the best opinion for that, but in general I have to imagine that any upgrade is going to help you, especially if you're not getting a combat level from those 3 prayer levels

I dont think the real question should be is it worth to upgrade, because yes. It should more so be how effective would they be. My current spot im in is, do i upgrade from a glory to fury + archers ring + dragon cbow, where im using a rune cbow, glory, and explorerers ring. Where as those 3 upgrades are about 17m in total vs upgrading to just a necklace of anguish which is about 15m. Fury gives me a prayer bonus, allowing me to pray longer + gives me melee states when i do melee. Archers ring and dragon cbow just upgrades my range accuracy by about 8 i believe form the current setup. Where the necklace of anguish gives me that extra ranged strength boost + about 5 more accuracy.

I would lean buying the 3 items in this situation. Anguish is nice, but those upgrades combined will be similar dps + the prayer bonus, and you don't only use the fury for ranged like you said. Technically you could check on a DPS calc to see which will give more damage, but again I'm thinking fury+archers+DCB

Gold isn't useless in a deflating economy. We saw this happen a few months back when all items just started crashing for no given reason. The gold buys more gear/supplies. Timing your purchases/sells can make a world of difference.

Rigour is definitely an outlier. Prims, more often than not, won't increase your max hit from d boots. Rigour is a MASSIVE increase (10-20% damage increase)

Honestly on the fence about avernic. I don’t have the money but I can sell my Bandos tank setup which would get me closer and then I could just kill vorkath with avernic defender and make back the money. It’s about 84mill rn

Avernic won't be super helpful at Vorkath since it's better to use a shield with anti-fire like a Anti-dragon shield or DFS

I disagree with this. I am just over combat level 100 and my equipment is cheap (my total wealth is a little over 250m and about 200m of that is coins). If I spent my coins to gain a 20% increase in the amount I earn per hour from combat, it would only net me about an extra 200k per hour. This sounds like a good option if you don't consider the opportunity cost. By keeping most of my wealth in coins, it enables me to flip. 200m used for flipping makes me much more than 200k per hour. Most people consider my wealth to be high for my level so I must be doing something right.

You seemed to miss some important parts of this video If you're flipping with your money, then it's not just sitting around. So it's worth spending the money (then making it right back with flipping) You should be able to make more than 1m/hr with your stats and how much money you have though, so a 20% increase being 200k is pretty weak "Most people consider my wealth high for my level so I must be doing something right" Bro flipping doesn't level you up. Of course you'll have more money at lower level if all you do is flip. High levels doesn't mean more money. In fact some levels cost money to get. So you should stop listening to these "most people" you're listening too tbh

@@TheEdB0ys Fair enough, but I would argue that opportunity cost could have been more thoroughly explored since much of the discussion seemed to be based around achieving a ROI on items bought. Since ROI is a focus of this video, I think considering what can be done with the saved GP rather than just letting it sit around might have provided a more in-depth analysis. I agree with your point about 1m/hour being low for my level. I only do afk moneymakers (vampyre sentinels at the moment). The way I appoach making money is different than most. GP per click is the most important metric for me rather than GP per hour. I would prioritise making 1m/hour with 20 clicks per hour over making 3m/hour with 1000 clicks per hour. I know this is a controversal way to approach making money so I know we will have different views on this, I mentioned it only so you can better understand my perspective. I also agree with your point regarding xp. Of course, my approach is based on getting money as easily anf afk as possible, and this comes at the expense of levels.

Rigour is 100% worth buying. Most content in this game is ranged. BP is cheap and OP af and it's a direct upgrade then we got Tbow too. Defender on the other hand is a last buy for meele imo.. literally need to have bis all for that to be worth it.

I completely agree. But its also on what u should upgrade first. if u have money for full Bandos but u dont have a Berserker Ring, Torture or Prims you will get more out of having the cheaper 2 or 3 BIS items instead of buying 2 armor pieces for huge money and only getting +4 str

Someone else brought this up too. I think it's another good topic to discuss though. Upgrading is good, but some items aren't a better upgrade purely because it's more expensive. It just happens to be more rare so it costs more. There's a lot of upgrades out there like that to compare tho

What about those have already bettered their levels? I feel like the gear upgrade discussion is pointed more towards people who already have higher enough construction for the pool and jewelry box etc, or high enough prayer to use each prayer, could even point towards other buyables like crafting and herblore. I can see how it might be confusing to someone sitting at like 50 prayer and hearing me say "Go upgrade your gear". There is a line somewhere

I brought up this point to that sometimes there's better things to spend the money on including construction. But you will hit a point that you don't need higher prayer levels compared to having worse gear. If you're not at a point where you can use every prayer, or have a maxed house then you shouldn't be upgrading yet. But I'd much rather have max gear and ~75 prayer, than bad gear and a prayer cape so there is a balance

Like let's say you have you your max cape. Not everyone gets to that point, but what else would you spend the money on at that point? There's a line somewhere, and you're welcome to put that line wherever you'd like. But eventually upgrading your gear is going to get you more money/hr

What about sgs that dropped from 55m to 41m? Better off just using regular shit while merching.. more players in game due to mobile, more med levels buying bonds buying items so less items in game and way more gp.. shit market right now, sgs again for example in the passed three days has went from 41m to 48m now it won't even sell for 47..

Rigour first is defenitly a better upgrade. Defender is a pretty crap upgrade for gp because it sets you back so much for future better upgrades, should have tbow rapier ancestral bandos zenytes boots rapier before you buy it. 👍
