I had this plan for a while after reading two reports from others, who had done Ossa as a day trip. We all agreed to give it a try on the way home from Parkhurst Mountain last weekend. So we met each other at 3am on Saturday July 25 and got to the trailhead around 4:30am. After having a quick breakfast we started hiking around 5am. All went on well. 3 hours later we got to the creek, where we had to walk through the cold water. We quickly dried our feet and put on our boots and started hiking again. The trail is in a surprisingly good shape till the three lakes, where there are tons of mosquitoes. We did not even bother to take a break or take pictures of those lakes. Route finding started after these lakes. For some reason, I became very hungry and tired after the lakes. I slowed down my pace and had several lengthy breaks till Ossa Ridge, where I had a big Whole Foods maffin and another lengthy break. Feeling much better. The scrambling part before the peak is very enjoyable. 9 hours later after leaving our cars we stood on the peak enjoying the stunning views. On the way back I ran into several of my friends, who were going to camp there and climb Ossa the next day. We were back to our cars before dark. Car2car 16.5 hours. Totally 33 kilometers with 2546 meters of elevation gain as per my GPS.
