Watch it in 3D. The BD has that format. It vastly improves the movie and makes it more entertaining than just silly or goofy. Not all of them are successful, but some are. My three favorite shots in 3D that worked for me: Overman’s floating arm; the reveal of his face from beneath the white sheet and FitzRoyce’s horrifying death scene. 1. The arm isn’t touching or partially obscured by the frame, so the 3D effect is complete. It really looks like the arm is floating slowly into the room between you and the screen. 2. Overman’s face fills the screen. It doesn’t come toward you like the arm, but because it’s a stationary shot, it lets us see all the detail, each with its own depth. His nose, first of all, looks like it could touch your own. The black, wriggling thing (a small fish or other scavenger?) slides across the teeth beneath it. Wonderfully gruesome in the _Jaws_ tradition of finding nauseating remains of victims. 3. Finally, FitzRoyce. Oh my God. The most indelible death since Quint’s. Already there is that terrible claustrophobia of the narrow pipe. The 3D environment is subtly there. _But,_ when FitzRoyce finds himself quite alive inside its mouth, you can tell that _this_ sequence was the whole point of making a 3D _Jaws._ It puts you right there with him. Light filters through the teeth and the particles in the water gives the light body and depth. The blood, when it comes, billows in the foreground... This comment is way too long, but I hope it makes some people interested in seeing it in the format it was created for.
