Oster made 2 types of electric motors on their blenders since brand has adquired by Sunbeam (Previously Oster had another type of motor) The first one is this motor, which was continued producing in Venezuela, while the second one is the American version (New version) where screws holes at housing are no longer wide and the carbon brushes carriers are distributed diagonally instead of horizontally.

If you need to release wire from switch , push an end of a small paperclip next to wire and lean sideways slightly and wire will come loose. Most of the oster blenders do not have a felt wick around the bearing ,anything more than drop of oil will end up everywhere .3 in1 oil not recommended. It evaporates and gums up. The oil in the zoom spout oiler works great . Signed. I used to work for SASCO .

Hi there. Not sure you're still seeing these comments...I have an old Osterizer Deluxe model 403. You mentioned in the video above that sometimes the driver pins are a bare to remove...I seem to have one of those. It appears to be quite fused on. Haven't been able to get the motion you used in the video (rapping the ratchet) to work. I've opened the bottom and grabbed the fan with a towel, but trying to loosen the drive pin simply loosened the nut on the fan. I have nothing to hold on to in order to put sufficient force into loosening that drive pin. Any suggestions?

Thank you Sir for posting this video, it has help me a lot. Is there a way to repaint or restore the chrome paint on the metal cover?
@vintagemixersandmore1666
@vintagemixersandmore1666 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Aside from having it rechromed, about all you can do is polish it up to keep the chrome look. Chrome paint or powder coat will never look like actual chrome, but then again that could be left up to personal preference. Hope this helps!

My classic Oster "flashed" one day while attempting to start it and doesn't work anymore. Do you think it's something that can be repaired? Thank you for posting.

I really enjoyed your video and found it very helpful. I have a model 442 Made in Canada (Patented in 1951, 1957, 1961) Osterizer blender. It was in mint condition until my daughter-in-law accidentally dropped it and broke the black plastic ring around the top. Am I able to purchase that part and replace it? Would another model have the same black plastic ring around the top that could be used for it? Thanks so much. May McConaghy

If someone fixed these for a living how much can you get paid to fix one? I was told you can charge $200-$300 for fixing commerical blenders from smoothie king and other juice places. Is that true?

I guess it depends, if you are repairing commercially then of course you would have to charge more to cover liability, etc.. Repairs for privately owned mixers and blenders varies, it all depends on what the work is worth to you and the client I suppose, and how much you have to invest in time and parts, painting, etc.

I was wondering, you mentioned that the drive coupler for the model 10 is different - I am looking at perhaps getting one - how does it compare to this one, drive and general mechanicals? Any advice would be welcome!
@vintagemixersandmore1666
@vintagemixersandmore1666 6 жыл бұрын
The model 10 has an all metal drive stud that is held to the shaft with a pin, where the others have a rubber drive coupler and threads on, then the drive stud threads into that. Otherwise, the rest of the machine is similar, but only single speed.
@johnnyjimj
@johnnyjimj 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! So I guess it would be a tougher machine... I'll see whether I can talk the guy down a bit, asking price is a tad high considering the chrome has some dents and I haven't heard it running...
@vintagemixersandmore1666
@vintagemixersandmore1666 6 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, the rubber drive coupling does help with shock and vibration, and also provides a weak link to fail and be easily changed if it does. The non rubber bushing machine is also noisier , and I didn't care for single speed. Still a good machine though!
