31-08-2021 What an incredibly beautiful ship, is it still original? We only have the Batavia as a replica, that's all. The Netherlands (Holland at that time) had a huge merchant fleet that sailed to the East Indies (VOC). Shameful what they all did, bunch of murderers and buccaneers they were; I don't think there is any difference with the behavior of other countries at that time. But it remains a very beautiful ship. Hello Bas..The original sank in 1745. This replica was built in 1995-2003 and it has been in China once 2005. All about the ship is on Wikipedia.
