I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video, and thank you so much for sharing!! I also have colonic inertia and severe pelvic floor dyssynergia and I have not found any ileostomy stories with these reasons until now! Always the IBD stories which don't pertain to me. Five years ago I had a subtotal colectomy due to the colonic inertia but still been having all kinds of issues, now been trying pelvic PT/biofeedback and not helping at all so far 7 weeks in... my surgical follow up is in two weeks and my alternative to PT not working is an end ileostomy. I'm actually so ready for this surgery. Again, thank you so much, the pain is awful!

Hi I'm going to have an ostomy done on the 12.2, 2015 . I would like to say thank you for letting us know how it felt when u first had your ostomy. The most worrying thing for me at the moment is how it's going to feel after the operation and also how long it's going to take to get used to.

Good luck with your surgery! There's not really a specific time it takes to get used to, it's sort of a gradual process. It takes some getting used to in the beginning, but it gets much easier over time! :)
