Also Ohio State puts people's careers on a pedal stool!!!! Jim Knowles might have had the number one defense this year, but he never would have had it if it wasn't for Ohio State players!!

The Ohio State Buckeyes will survive the loss of a coach. Saban survived this on a yearly basis. Day demanded change after the first Oregon game and clearly this is at the root of Knowles leaving to a lesser program at Penn State. Penn State paid the max and Knowles has never called plays against an offense as talented and lethal as the Buckeye's offense. Its not about Xs and Os its about Bobbies and Joes. Ryan Day has grown and learned a lot during this playoff run. He definitely learned not to be afraid of anyone and to open up the offense and whip everyone and have a defense that throttles everyone.The defense is not the reason the Buckeyes beat PSU every year with very rare exceptions. The Buckeyes have had better talent for decades. Thats not going to change.

While I appreciate what JK has done for the Buckeyes in the last three years, I would love to see the Buckeyes always beat the Penn St. by double digits in the coming years! I also wonder how long JK would stay at that team with that head coach? Go Bucks!

So you guys are saying that Ryan Day was the one who wanted the cage rushing and other things, but menece 2 sports said it was the other way around and that's why LJ was bumping heads with JK because it was hard for LJ to sell that to his recruits which makes sence. Either way Ohio State will be just fine!!! O-H

Here`s my thing: these guys sign a contract. they don`t sign a "well-I`ll-stick-around-maybe-until-something-better-comes-along." It`s a freakin` contract. That USED to mean something. I`ve signed contracts and always honored them. I say, bring back honor! Honor the damn contract YOU agreed to.

I am a big fan of good defense, and new to buckeye football, but feel most fans under value defense. Big loss but bucks will move forward highly successfully as Ryan day and great players will always win. But thin margin between natty’sand being top 5 team is where guys like Knowles can be missed vs highly competent DC’s. Good luck and go bucks.

If the details are true, it sounds like a Day issue. Why would you hire a guy for his scheme and then not run it, only to realize you really do need to? Sounds like the Michigan game where Ryan changed the offense away from Chip’s scheme. Also consider the botched recruiting/handling of Ewers. Should we say we won a Natty in spite of Ryan Day? If you’re truly a CEO coach, hire guys to let them do what they do. Seems to be a pattern here.
@jacobdecot83362 күн бұрын
@@aTxBuckeye512 Don’t be that fan. Ewers left high school a year early to get $1 million dollars and he transferred to the place he always wanted to be. Also, head coaches are allowed to have a say in game plans, scheme, etc. OSU should have beaten TTUN and Ryan is responsible for overthinking that game plan. However, he also put together game plans that helped OSU win the national title. Saying OSU won it in spite of him is a lazy take.
@JimmyVespe2 күн бұрын
All I know is we won with a four down front. When we went to 3 down at times we were getting shredded.
@aTxBuckeye5122 күн бұрын
You can disagree but I don’t think it’s a lazy take. It’s based on the information. Time will tell. I don’t think Day is a dynasty type coach, ala Saban. He needed absolutely every piece of the puzzle he had this year to get it done and he’s not going to have that every year. So if he can reload his staff (especially if Chip leaves) and return to the mountain top again, I’ll admit I was wrong about him. I don’t dislike him. I’m just not ready to coronate him as the second coming of Saban after winning his first championship with the most talented roster and best coaching staff in college football.
@duanecarter7954Күн бұрын
They did run Knowles scheme and it got torched. Why the h*ll you think they changed? Knowles defense is a gimmick defense that's why Day listened to Johnson and went back to 4 D-linemen. Glad the dude's gone.

Not sure what all the hype about PennSt is…..they are not returning the rosters like TTUN did in 2023 and OSU did in 2024…..not even close. Knowles D is very complex and took OSU 3 years and a roster on D that had NFL players at every position.
