This is a pretty decent video and honestly after playing for a few years I fully agree with the sentiment of it quite a bit. These have all been things I feel like too many people ignore and never talk about, and it can get pretty frustrating. Kinda led to me not really interacting with the community at all as a result. As some genuine constructive criticism, I'd have to recommend two things : 1) writing a script to help consolidate your thoughts and eliminate needless filler words and phrases. 2) sitting on your video for a couple days before publishing it and rewatching it later to find editing/voiceover mistakes or potential improvements Glad this video popped up in my feed, I'll be sure to check out some of your plays and other videos :)

As a mapper I understand how hard it is to create maps, same for making skinners. That's why I don't agree on the skinning/background rant. Mappers and skinners are free to do whatever they want and players are free to use their product or not. But that doesn't make players to have any right to complain about them as if mapping and skinnning sole reason is to please players. No, that's not how it is. But most other points I hard agree.

When I started to play osu offline, I've slowly realized most of these problems. Even I was dumb enough to be a problem when I used to play online as a beginner. It's actually pretty annoying. I learned to just enjoy the music and gameplay. I started playing osu in 2019. I learned almost every general skill set (including EZ mod) except for AR>10 since I personally think DT is a optional mod you should practice in end game. EZ mod is probably one of the most important mods to learn imo. But yeah, I always would like people to be in depth of what they want to improve in. I don't like to say "play more" UNLESS they are absolutely new to the game.

In my own view, one thing I can say about genetics tho, while it doesn't affect in improving in general, it does affect on how fast the player imrpoves tho. A person with genetics COULD improve faster, but the person without genetics can stand in the same plane.

You can replace backgrounds of osu beatmaps, even ranked ones. Helps when getting rid of questionable + inappropriate backgrounds. You replace the image of the background by removing the background and replacing the image of the background with the same name of the old background. It’s class

With the anime girl at the end of a map skin problem, you can just delete it from the skin folder without wrecking anything else. And the beatmap background, you don't need Photoshop. Just go to the map folder on your files like with your skin's, and just delete the map background.

Mouse player here - you should claw grip if you feel more comfortable with a low sensitivity. Top players do that basically to just minimise mouse drift, palm grip is fine with a higher sens, actually any grip works with any sens if you get used to dealing with mouse drift. Iirc funorange just grips his mouse hard and moves only his hand to aim. Like pen grip how you hold your mouse and sens is entirely personal preference. You can get good with anything

I’d just like to say, many of the things you bring up in this video are so well explained and definitely need more awareness! I’ve been playing osu!std for 5.5 months and i’m only 86k but someone already thought I was hacking cause my first 100pp play was a stream map with HD (I used to play mania). I found it horrible knowing some people are higher ranks than me and can’t even play maps longer than 2 minutes, let alone a map with 2k combo or higher! I can relate to some of the topics I also don't use anime skins that much I used to be like "ok imma get skins that's themed after my favorite anime character" And then I just.... @@janniksamsing8350 I know it's been a month but I used to heavily struggle with anything on the speedy side in osu (speedy aim, raw speed, reading speed, etc) and that was because the way I approached those things was very ineffecient but when I started playing ping pong I learned a better way to react when my opponents strike the ball which helped me learn higher ar in osu and then I started practicing alternating by doing the same clicking motion while moving on a treadmill, studying, etc, which gave me the raw speed and some control over it(my acc was obviously garbage cuz I still hadn't gotten comfortable with those things) and after a month of practicing them I can now play HDHR, 190bpm, and dt and have 95%+ acc consistently which made me really happy.

apart from the skin argument, which is like looking at an painting about an apple and say "i don't like the apple, but i like the table that the apple was put on, why did the artist draw the apple now i have to redraw the painting without the apple" it all valid argument (tips: if you really don't like the girl being there and is not very good at ps, you can try straight up delete the file that have the girl in it, if the skinner is not smoking something and messing with the skin system, most of the times it wont break the skin, just backup before doing anything)

i also dont think he fully understands how playing with mouse is, its not as simple as he says, he says its good for big movements, but no thats not true at all unless you have a really high dpi, there are rare people who can aim with an arm and not the wrist, so making big movements one after another is hard to do accurately

I'm an HR player, I don't know how I got here but it's just a fact that I play the mod so much that anything lower or higher than AR 10 is bit of a challenge. I am capable of playing lower AR don't get me wrong, but I'm much less comfortable and can only manage a few maps a session while still enjoying the game. I'd like to know what you think about something I find annoting when it comes to osu videos: everytime somebody posts a clip lots of the comments are "considering you're X digit,this is/isn't impressive". I mean...rank sure gives a general idea about your skill level,that's totally true,but... Sometimes they sound like "You're that rank,so you're supposed to do it" and it's kinda sad...if a player got a great rank it's because he put in lots if effort,hard work,TIME and dedication! (And farming as well but that's another thing) Immagine spending lots of time trying to improve and they tell you "it's not impressive,you're supposed to do this considering your rank",it can be kinda demotivating... I'm not talking for myself since I'm quite a noob,I'm not "supposed to do crazy stuff because of my rank" hahaha. Of course there's some flexibility,if a 4 digit FCes a 4* map there's not much impressive about it,but that's quite an extreme case! Maybe it's more like a youtube related problem idk. so idk if im improving correctly so since you said alot about improving correctly, i figured you can tell if i am or not. first off im a mouse player because well im broke and cant afford anything XD so i play maps that i know are above my skill range (obviously not SUPER high above it, but its just outside my skill range) but when i beat them i dont move on to something else. i keep playing that same map. i set my next goal as being able to beat it consistently, but i dont move on after that. i set another goal to improve my score to consistently get A rank. after that i set a goal for FC/S rank. after that i move on and try harder maps. well usually i try the next hardest for the song. i dont ALWAYS go for FC/S rank, but i atleast go for consistent A rank before i move on. also idk if this has any effect or not, but i only play maps that are songs that i know. i have played over 700 hours of geometry dash so all the maps i play are songs i know from there, which is mostly EDM stuff. im 99% sure this has no effect but im sorta new to this community so i wouldn't know. My hardest map is a 3.78 star 200BPM 3 Minute 93.90% acc FC S Rank. I also got another FC low 3 star 4 minute map, but it was an A rank :/ but its a 110 BPM song so its not nearly as fast as the other one. im practicing a 4 star map now and so far im consistent at B rank for it. as far as warming up i play a 5 star map and i get about half way. i also play a 6 star sometimes and i get almost half way. idk if this is good for me, but once i started doing this i was able to read faster gameplay easier which in turn made me be able to read the slower stuff that i was used to WAY easier. Edit: 8:53 oh... sorry i'll go watch those

Ok personally as a massive Vaxei fan it really annoyed me learning about the period of time where he was basically forced to prove that he wasn't hacking because people just wouldn't believe that he could set scores like that and that he improved so quickly. I didn't play back then because I barely started playing summer 2021 but as I got more into osu and started getting KZbin videos recommended it was really such an annoyance to find out about that. Regardless of whether it was Vaxei or not it's just super rude and annoying to accuse people of cheating in general unless it's just so blatantly obvious but even sometimes genuine playing (like Ekoro with i believe a touchscreen and mouse) looks like hacking, whatever rank you are no one should really be accusing anyone of cheating unless you've got some solid proof. Doing it just makes you look stupid if you get proven wrong later on and now you get shit on for trying to make someone with actual skill look bad.

Honestly, my highest play is harumachi clover. But i wanna find a difficult map that goes higher. But i also just wanna play osu for fun. My accuracy is bad but i can hit jumps and atleaat stream well. Am i still just a pp farmer who is at a rank way higher than they should be at?

Btw u can just change whatever the skin pack is to a good one online, as I would like to think, most osu players could really care less about backgrounds but it really is overdone sometimes.

Dude the amount of people who can look down on DT players in general because they think it can only be used for farming is ridiculous, like a majority of my top plays are from DT (and I'm trying to learn HR right now the higher cs threw me off for so long but im getting better already) and only one of them is an actual farm map that I was only playing because damn that song slapped and it was the only version of the song I could find like damn bro maybe I just love being speedy as fuck

I’d say for improvement genetics is a factor, but you can’t really control it so why care. Mentality/technique is the most important combo and it does take time. Sometimes you’re just static on something for months. I’m overranked in a lot of ways but also underranked in a lot, because I somewhat focus on pp and find tech maps too hard/confusing to be fun (goreshit maps and maps with tech elements are the shit though) but I want to learn speed, stamina and consistency, so far I have a 1500 combo top play, can get halfway through long stream practice 180 with decent acc (90-96 range) and can solidly do 200-210 streams that aren’t deathstreams (50+). At least on a popoff like I had earlier today

your dt farming take can be applied to any map. if you only play a 160bpm spaced burst map, you're not gonna improve. if you play harumachi all day, you're not gonna improve. if you play the same map over and over and choke over and over in random spots, you will not improve. doesn't matter what mod. doesn't matter if it's farm.

0:53 Theres a way to fix this issue. it may be kinda hard to understand but simply u have to to osu folders and find the skin. then dlete the photo that shows that thing and wait a while then playtest it. it should be fixed.
