It's a reference to an old meme called "leet speak" where you'd replace certain with letters like "h4x0r" and stuff like that. 1337 was a number that meant awesome or elite. (To be precise 1337 was leet speak for the word "leet" itself and 31337 was "eleet") I'm honestly super surprised people have never heard of 1337 because it was engrained into the internet for me growing up I can't look at the number these days without thinking of it

Pretty sure all maps with 1337 max combo have that specific combo for the exact same reason why the achievement requires it, because much like 69 or 420, it's a meme number, and it has been for at least two decades, so no, I seriously doubt it was based on The Big Black by Blue Dragon. I feel like the achievement has been around for even longer than the map has been a meme.

On the topic of Hard medals tho, in the Hush-Hush medals section the hardest medal would probably be "Is this Real Life?" You have to FC an AR11 OD11 HP11 and over 260BPM Ranked map to get the medal.

Well, the answer is YES! On Jan 14 2022, osu! player Oliri played and FCd Panda Eyes - ILY on the highest difficulty with the highest possible combo string, thus earning the medal.

The second hidden requirment isn't really hidden because "full combo" literally means "the whole combo without any "combo piece" being left behind". The game refers to FC as having no misses and perfect sliders in every aspect of it

Part of the osu! community I have never figured out is why people call every no full miss an FC. Missing a slider end is by definition not a full combo. An FC literally means as put in the video getting "the maximum possible combo". It was already like this when I joined started in 2016. How early in the game's history did the community's definition of "FC" separate from the broader rhythm game community?

It's called "Full Combo" (FC) because the combo isn't broken by a bad or miss. You're probably looking for something called All Perfect, as in "Getting a perfect score on the map"

Calling SB runs and missed slider ends (which should count the same as a slider tick and break combo) "FC"s is still insane.

That's really solid video, but has one particular problem: Both goink and (pointed) Oliri 10* FC plays... shouldn't be 10* at all. Both of them plays on a touchscreen, so should get Touchsctreen Detected mod added by game. It also reduces SR of a map, eg. goink SS-TYPE should be close to 7.5* with it BUT IT DIDN"T DETECT A TOUCHSCREEN, so game calculated it as normal play. That also complains why goink gets not 303 PP (like you showed in 4:04), but 768 PP from this play now, and not ~370 PP but 967 PP before latest PP rework.

This is wrong. Touchscreen only affects the pp earned and never touches the star rating. Bots and other tools calculate when td mod is applied, but the system created by peppy doesn’t account td mod to start rating. This can be seen by Oliri’s play already being marked TD upon submission
