Something about Peter Capaldi feels like THE definitive Doctor. Here we have a lifelong fan IRL who finally got to experience his dream and personifies it amazingly, combined with Steven Moffat's equally gut wrenching writing. The Doctor feels so correct here. Anger from all he's been through, compassion through who he is, the confusion with human culture an alien would have, and above all the duty to protect the world. An absolute perfect fit, and I miss him so much more for it. Capaldi gave his soul to his role and lived The Doctor for the time he was on set. I TRULY hope we can see him back at some point for an anniversary, his run will always be my favorite, no hating on Smith or Tennant, I grew up with both, but as a Teenager and Adult by the time the series ended, you could tell Capaldi personified the Doctor on every level.

So it seems I must play mine. The man that stops the monsters. I’m sending you back to your own dimension. Who knows? Some of you may even survive the trip. And if you do, remember this - you are not welcome here. This plane is protected. I am the Doctor. And I name you The Boneless." @SonicCam047 жыл бұрын
Tatyana Yanovich nah he's only 3000 ish Technically he only aged the amount of time of one run of the confession dial
@Croftice16 жыл бұрын
He didn't age in the Confession Dial that much. Remember how he got to reset the teleporter device, his dieing body burned all his remaining energy, then a fresh new copy of his initial arrival body emerged from the teleporter and he got to solve most of the riddle again to the "hardest ever" wall (can't remember the name, Crystillium maybe?). When he finally broke the wall, that was technically only "less than a day" old body. He finally got all things together (I don't think, that he could remember anything, becase the previous body died, there isn't anything like mind transfer going on, is it?) and realized, that it took several billions of years in the Confession Dial and who's actually responsible for that. So he's not billions of years old, he only has the knowledge of time passing this long while he was imprisoned.
@Croftice16 жыл бұрын
Strange, when you got to think about that episode, his old body burned down to dust each time, but only his skull remained. Why the skull? Why no other bones? A whole skeleton? Do all Gallifreyans have such a durable skull, or is the Doctor really a hybrid? If he is, then which races? Humans aren't fireproof, so that "half human, half Time Lord" is nonsense.

1:59 I remember the final moments of Season 9, when the Doctor opened the TARDIS doors and her primary systems came back online. Such a poignant moment, there was an element of raw emotion in that scene that really struck home with me. Then as he ascended the steps and looked down at his chalk-board. 'RUN YOU CLEVER BOY...AND BE A DOCTOR'. He puts on his red velvet jacket, then turns around. Suddenly the TARDIS Materialises a new Sonic Screwdriver for him. A Reward for spending all that time away inside the confession dial, and finding his way, not only home, but back to her. With a click of his fingers, the doors swing shut and he walks down the steps towards the console, he takes a hold of the space time throttle and pulls it down hard, the engines revving back up and the de-materialisation process starting. This final scene drove home to me the significance of these two characters... It's the Doctor...and the TARDIS...others come and go...Rose, Donna, Martha, Clara, even Bill in Season 10...but in the end...it's the same old duo...the Doctor and the TARDIS... It's both humbling and sad at the same time...

A good man is hard to find. But the most important thing is to find a man who tries. Because the people who try are much more rare than you think. And so many people focus on the wall in front of the man and they see the man who punches that wall, asking why he even tries at all, thinking "That's one hell of a wall." But I say "That's one hell of a man." :) The moment this Doctor gave that speech about the Bird solidified his place in my mind as one of the best heroes of all time...literally. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2coYd6gJ2Dd80

Peter Capaldi IS the Doctor. He encapsulated all the others up to him and really was an alien who had seen so much, taken so much on his shoulders, and often lost it as he hadn't the patience to talk to 'lesser mortals' of any species. The years since his departure have nigh on ruined the mythos, made the character totally immortal and destroyed Gallifrey - and if time could be rewritten I wish all that twaddle with the Master and the timelord kid erased - but I'm confident that RTD will take the helm in full control and put this magical and aspirational character back on track. New beginnings... and I hope that one day Peter Capaldi will return, albeit briefly no doubt.

Not the most famous with the general audience but Capaldi is the definitive Doctor of the new series. You can really believe he is a 2000+ years old person. He is tired, grumpy, doesn't have time for stupidity and he knows and accepts that sometimes people die because the solution isn't always the best but someone needs to get the job done to ensure the survival of the rest. If the show ended with Capaldi I would have accepted it because he feels like the culmination of a long journey.

+Sumeragi Kishi I don't know that there is a "best". Each actor represents the Doctor at a different period in his life: Eccleston, the traumatized survivor who just wants to live; Tennant, the man who found himself caring and integrating into a people he could never be a part of (very manic-depressive); Smith, the one who wanted to forget obligation and connection, but ended up getting sucked into the life of a small family; Capaldi, the one whose hopes were dashed and who says what every Doctor thus far has been thinking - "sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones, but you still has to choose." I like all of them. That said, I prefer the Tennant and Capaldi depictions, but you work with the scripts that were written for you. Smith did some brilliant work, especially in "The Rings of Akhaten".

+Alan Jarvis It was super-heroic (which makes me think it would have fit the 10th better - but the 10th theme hinted at sadness that was super-key to the character). It is, however, suitably grand and appropriate for the scale the 11th was operating at.

Well, I have a harder time deciding which Doctor I like the most and which of his themes. It keeps changing with every season I see. I'm still in season 10 and after losing 2 of my favourite Doctors, I don't think I can bear to see another one go. And I'm not even sure if I wanna complete the season and then start with a totally new female doctor. Is watching the female Doctor worth it ?

Capaldi can handle intense drama, as in The Zygon Inversion war speech, and high comedy, as in The Husbands of River Song, entering the TARDIS for the first time. He will be missed.

I feel the greatest pathos for #12 had was the one riddle he could not solve: "who's face is this?" It was a message #10 tried to send to himself, THAT THE DOCTOR COULD STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE even by saving just one person or one family. Unfortunately, a message that was forever lost to who most needed to be the one to hear it.

A Good Man? is hands down my favourite theme. It fits the Doctor so well. To me this theme sounds like he has this dark personality, this dark sorrow from everything that he has lost, but it also sounds like he is trying for redemption from every bad deed he has done. Anyone else think this?

One of my favorite moments in this series was the Good Man talk. Especially Danny Pink... he grew on me, especially when he died. That had been awesome.

When I hear this theme Disputes exit not playing in the scene I think of the zygons killing the soldiers via being the ones they love And that is ultimately much more horrifying than anything the show could offer me Which is why a frown appears on my face when I hear this Despite it being triumphant

Personally, while I didn't hate 12, he felt a bit lackluster at times. Although I must admit, Peter Capaldi played him very well at some points. When Capaldi gets into it he really gets into it and it makes the performance amazing.

Murray Gold loves Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer. And who doesn't. This sounds like the two combined. I didn't think he would be able to compose a score which outdoes I Am The Doctor, but he did and nailed it. It does sound a heck of a lot like the end of The Dark Knight, which is appropriate for Capaldi's doctor.
