Skellige in game is actually teeming with people and wildlife, but because of the way the game's optimized, it either despawns or greatly simplifies (sometimes with hilarious consequences) all actors that are not within your direct line of sight or immediate vicinity. Unfortunately, when using freecam, game still thinks you're staying in one place, hence skellige looks devoid of all life besides the birds in this video. Not moving the camera farther than 150-200 meters from geralt would've been best.

+Glyn Mooney Ha, yeah, and the dead/leaf-less trees sway as much in the wind, or more, than the living trees with leaves, which just doesn't look right. That was the one thing that bugged me.

CDPR could’ve easily developed a Witcher game that only takes place in the vast islands of Skellige, but the fact that the Witcher 3 offers players the opportunity to explore Skellige, Velen, Novigrad (Northen Vellen), White Orchard, Kaer Morhen AND Toussaint makes this game goated IMO

Uploading in higher resolution, for example 1080p upscaled to 2160p, help lower this problem, because higher resolutions have a higher bandwidth.

But if you upscale 1080p to 2160p, and once uploaded you watch it in 1080p, you won't benefit from the extra bandwidth, only if you up the viewing resolution.

Skellige seems like it was based on the Orkneys and other Scottish islands when they were under Viking rule in the dark ages

+Strunmahbron Hey, I used the debug console. Search for 'Witcher 3 debug console enabler' and go from there. There are a lot of useful commands like changing weather, etc.

+Benjot Sumal I'm actually just about to start over. I hit a brick wall for some reason and lost interest, but I'm going to give it another shot. I've forgotten a lot of the story, so a new game seems wise.

ultrabrilliant If the brick wall was a difficult fight you can always adjust the difficulty. But my advise for you is that there is a lot in this game but don't be intimidated because you don't have to do everything. Yes there are side missions that effect the main story and they are easy to miss and all but it's fine then you're story would be different than everyone else's. Other things people think they have to do but they don't have to is crafting and all that sort of stuff I personally only spent like 1-2 hours total dabbling in that and just stopped because I was too interested into the story to be bothered with it. Hell I rarely craft in games that don't have great stories. But good luck remember you don't have to rush the entire game yes it's about 50 + hours but you could play a couple one day and skip a few days I did that and the loading screens usually reminded me where I left off in the story.
