I did some screenshots of the unprocessed, raw clips from where they came from. drive.google.com/open?id=0BzPivL13LZZlTWQwUjBQQTY2VkE The one on the right looks more like a 35mm telecine, which it is, and the one from the storyboard/final split-screen comparison looks low-res, because it was in a little box on the bottom, and... i dunno. I'll have the storyboard/final split-screen up on the channel along with a custom edit splicing the filmmaker's commentary from Disc 1 on it.

Of course, the transfer on those bonuses (Storyboard/Final Split-screen, Storyboard/Layout/Final "Angle" button bonus) were that of the 1996 and 1997 LaserDiscs (CLV, CAV and DTS CLV). These were THX-certified releases of the era.

@robertemery49796 жыл бұрын
They only rendered the movie twice and 2nd time that was for the 2009 3d version (they needed to place the cameras in different places.) The vhs, dvd, laserdisc and blu ray all come from the original 2k render. The only difference between the two is they came from different Intermediates. Both of the videos come from the same master. Also the 35mm copies looked a lot better then what was shown in this video.
@OtherFiles6 жыл бұрын
Uhh... ...no? "The vhs, dvd, laserdisc and blu ray all come from the original 2k render." But the Blu-ray uses the 2009 render. The VHS and LaserDisc are based on the 35mm transfer. The DVD is the second render because of the credits being a stitched-up, tall image scrolled from top to bottom. The film is hard-matted to 1.67:1 on 35mm prints, but the credits were in an open matte. The VHS has proof of it and cuts to black before the fade-in to Pixar's logo, DVD just fades to black to Pixar logo. The 2009 render (and BDs) have recreated credits, like in the 2003 render of Knick Knack (1989), the best way to compare are little things like the Dolby logos. There's 3 renders, basically. and only one was 2K; the 2009 render. The 1995 render's resolution was 1536x922. The credits might be traditional opticals. I don't know if the 2000 render was also based on the 1536x922 renders or not. You might have to talk to some Pixar people or ones who used to work at Pixar to verify that stuff.
@robertemery49796 жыл бұрын
I'm not talking about the credits. Although the now that I think about it the blu ray came out in 2010 so it most likely has the new render, so fair enough. but everything before it came from the same render. Anyway, you are getting the Intermediate mixed up with the original render. The two are not the same.
@OtherFiles6 жыл бұрын
But it's possible that the DI the DVDs used were from 2000 or 1999 with the stitched credits, What the 35mm prints used might be a mish-mash of both digital and opticals (if including credits) like what a lot of digital 2D animated movies from Disney Animation, Paramount/Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. used. The latter three also apply to logos usually.

Yes, as both predate the 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot. Same goes for the Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray, and every other video release in the US. Maybe that's coincidental with Warner Bros. doing the tie-in game for Cars 3, but that's largely due to the Avalanche Software revival by WB and not the CN side of things. Last Disney movie I saw CN air was The Muppets (2011) back in November 2016. Last one I saw in whole was Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) back in February 2012.

35mm is a type of motion picture film, and it's likely that the original theatrical release master for Toy Story was originally mastered on 35mm film as opposed to 70mm, which is basically the 4K DI (digital intermediate) of motion picture film stock, as 35mm is more common like 2K DIs for modern movies are.
