Proper reed care. Sand and polish the back so that they seal the mouthpiece correctly. No spit gets between the two, no spit in your sound, just a pure tone.

I like Vandoren mouthpieces on my Buffet clarinets. Consistent quality compared to other brands, which can be a lottery to get a good one. But on a Selmer Mark VI, I'm not sure Vandorens work as well as a Selmer mouthpiece.
