The cone shaped unit on the tractor pto is certainly not fast or particularly efficient... An every day horizontal hydraulic ram is far quicker with way less work than wrestling the round of wood into the cone

It is also much less expensive, and simpler to maintain. I used to have one that mounted to the axle on a pickup.

Most of these are more work/trouble than they are worth. None show all the work it takes to get the wood in place to split.....worthless!
