Thank you! I watched your series and it’s the first time that it’s all made sense to me in terms of mixing and muted and brights. I never realized the importance of the different shadow colors to show off the bright colors either.

Dr. Oto Kano, you are brilliant! I had figured out that proximity would give me a true purple, cr and wb. But I had not been able to figure out the green (the reason) using blues and yellows. I knew how to get there, but not why. Thanks for making it clear in such an easy way.

Your color theory lessons are awesome. QUESTION-since you use a single green for E&F, could you then use the xtra space on the 12 circle palette for the cool yellow?? Thanks for all of this wonderful information

Do you have yellow shade or blue shade for (E) green? Yellow shade will mix a perfect neutral with the quin rose. Blue shade will mix a purpleish navy like you showed in your demonstration. Love the egg palette! And idea for mixing within the brackets for brights. There are a few exceptions to the rule but great way to explain things. Happy New Year!!!!

This makes sense to me until I try to use a color that is right by the primary split line as the base color for mixing. For example, if I use E where you have (E) as the base for mixing, then on the right hand side where you have (E)+(C) and (E)+(B), I would mix E+(B) and E+(C), right? But then on the left hand side... there is nothing there to mix it with going counterclockwise that is still within the E to (B) 3rd of the palette. So what do I do to get the bright red-orange and muted red-orange? Should it be E+A for the bright and E+cool yellow for muted? Hope my question makes sense! lol

Should I pick warm or cool primaries? I want to try Schmincke horadam so I thought getting the primaries in tubes would be the best thing to get, but I can't decide if I should get warm or cool tones...

There are colors that are missing in the made up color wheel from the split for example yellow red the color between c and b mid tone of magenta and primary blue not cyan

Help!!!!! I'm confused about something. In the upper pallet you have 15 colors. In your porcelain pallet you only have 13 colors. How do I number the 15 colors. What happened to the missing colors? I thank you in advance. Eddie Hi. I was wondering if you had a chance to answer my inquiry. Thank you.

WOW!!!! OK, I just watched this video twice, saved it to my Watercolor playlist and has completely opened up my eyes to color mixing. I have been so lost on this topic, but this video and series in its entirety has been fantastic. Question - What is the palette (rectangle) you are using? I need one of those ;) Thanks Dr. Kano
@OtoKano5 жыл бұрын
It's just a ceramic plate I bought cheaply from a local discount store. Any ceramic plate with maximum flat surface will do :)

excuse me dr. kano, can I request a buff titanium video? I'm planning on learning urban painting and I saw two Daniel Smith sets that was advertised for Urban Painting and they both contained Buff Titanium and I was curious if you'd only use it as its pure color or could you use it for mixing. Im planning of having it in my palette but if i'd only use it as it is, it would be useless. Sorry for the long question😅

Great video but got a question: since you inserted a cool yellow in the 12 color palette, doesn't it change the letter assignments and color complement pairings?

No because it's purpose is not to dull a complimentary color :)

I still don’t understand why you don’t have a spot for a cool yellow ;( 2 red, 2 blue, 2 orange, 2 purple, 3 green and 1 yellow.. these numbers trigger my OCD :( pls take one of greens out for another yellow oto, MAKE YELLOW GREAT AGAIN!
@OtoKano6 жыл бұрын
That's totally coming Burak! This is just for learning color theory. In practice, when painting in real life, of course having cool yellow is amazing. It's my favourite color to have and I never make a palette without my holbein Aureloin.
