Ottawa calls on Industrial Relations Board to intervene in Canada Post strike - December 13, 2024

Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon provides an update on the Canada Post strike, which has been ongoing since November 14. MacKinnon announces that he has called on the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to look into the possibility of a negotiated settlement between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post by the end of 2024. If the CIRB deems that no agreement can be reached, then a restart of Canada Post’s operations will be ordered.
