The one section that you missed was the Gatineau hills and Parks on the Quebec side that is literally minutes away for scenic drives and in the Fall the colors are breathtaking, to say the least. Great presentation and your speed of information was perfect...TY

Thanks for showcasing the war museum! FYI those are not replicas in Moriyama Regeneration Hall, but the original plaster models (maquettes) the artist made in the 1920s that were used as reference for the stone figures on the monument itself: )

Really enjoyed this video. Good script, images, overall flows nicely. One thing I enjoy, not really explored, is running along the multi-use path from Arboretum all the way to Parliament (and further into Gatineau if you want); it's a nice 7km + uninterrupted path for walking, biking, and running connecting you throughout the city. It's a gem. The parkways are also great in the summer and Lansdowne restaurants, markets and activities are worth exploring too. Well done.

Maybe already mentioned but Ottawa has a wonderful art and makers community, I would check out the NCCs calendar and Lansdowne (613 flea) for any makers markets, as well as Arlington Five which hosts the Arlington art market quarterly. If you want to stay away from touristy areas, my go to's would be Elgin St and Hintonburg, so many lovely stores and good food!

Nice video that focuses mainly on family friendly locations for the city. Some things missing from here include Lansdowne as a whole (park, bars, stadium, arena), the sporting events, concerts and festivals that take place each year here, Winterlude in the winter, Gatineau Park for hikes and cycling, some very fine dining venues, and the odd eclectic pub and cafe that we have. Obviously it's based off your personal experiences that you had with your family, and for that, it's really a quality video. Thanks :)

I highly recommend renting a bike to ride the 200kms of recreational trails around the city(Rent-a-Bike is right under the bridge in front of the Chateau Laurier), or renting a canoe, paddle boat or kayak to explore the canal at Dow's Lake. You can follow up Dow's Lake with a short walk through the Arboretum to the Agricultural Museum at the Central Experimental Farm, always a big hit with young children. For something spooky, there's the Haunted Walks through many Ottawa's landmarks.

As a non-native to Ottawa you caught a lot of the good spots. One really cool thing you missed was Dow’s lake at end of Canal which is right next to an amazing Arboretum and Agriculture Museum (a very cool thing to do with kids as they basically have a live petting zoo of farm animals most of the year). Another quick note is one of the best hidden-gem restaurants in the region is right near the Diefenbunker called The Cheshire Cat Pub or alternatively you can go into Carp and eat the yummiest of sandwiches at Alice’s Village Cafe and the have ice cream at Carp Custom Creamery.

@@glasbo a cool one for you would be to come visit during open doors Ottawa - it’s crazy the Embassy’s and Government buildings you ge5 access to. Another thing you missed was The Canadian Mint (they make coins for 43 countries and the Olympic medals) and it’s just down the street from National Art Gallery:). Also there is a Bank of Canada Museum that is a free museum. And it’s not quite in Ottawa but Upper Canada Village is a really cool place to visit near Ottawa that recreates what it’s like to have lived in Canada before we were even a nation. Something neat to know is that Justin Trudeau is living in the Governor General’s cottage while the PM house is being renovated. The arboretum around the Governor Generals house is all planted by past Dignitary visitors, like John F Kennedy planted a tree there. The Mackenzie King Estate is also really cool (free to get to with shuttle, free entrance and you can also take your car). There are artifacts there from Sir. Winston Churchill gave PM Mackenzie-King. There are ruins from England and when Center Block of Parliament caught fire in 1916 and an abbey. Maybe you can tell, I think I live in a really fun city :) don’t let these ideas discourage you, you did an excellent job covering so many sights in such a short video!

@@glasbo Manitoulin is gorgeous so many trails, fantastic little towns (Okay population wise Villages technically) been going up in the summer since I was little. if you go up Cup and Saucer Trail as well as Manitoulin Eco park (especially the star nights they have) are good places to check out. Cup and Saucer is a long trail with actually 3 different difficulty paths (there is lots of steep hills) an easier trailer is Bridal Veil. Timberlane is the current cottages we rent when we go up really good. Can even rent a boat to go on the lake if you've got boating license. Also having Farquars ice cream always a staple. Really Hope you get the chance to go it's well worth it. You will want to book the ferry months in advanced tho it can get packed especially for the summer.
