Love the Defender Pro XT. I agree, it was hard installing, but I removed and reinstalled 3x and it’s easy now. I actually love the protection. Thinking it’s the best OtterBox case on the market. Thx for your in-depth review!

For the XT use a bic pen cap as a guide to get the outer to fit. It’s like changing a bike tire lol.

I went with the Symmetry+. I’ve always gone with the Defender but chose to go a little slim this time. Boy was that a mistake. The case is really slippery. It has no grip and it is a lint magnet. After a month I just couldn’t with it anymore. I went and go the Defender Pro. That is definitely better but I’ll be honest I don’t feel like the protect my phone like they use to. I guess I’m just used to The bulky case of old.

Excellent review. Just got the PRO XT. What's missing in all these case reviews is no one does a drop test! The glass back of my iPhone 12 pro max cracked, even under a case like these. So I stepped up the the top protection, let's hope it works!

I've had the commuter case since the iphone 12 pro max was released. I'm upgrading to the iphone 15 pro max and I have decided on the Defender XT case. It bums me out that you said that's your last choice because it puts doubt into my mind. I've enjoyed the commuter all these years but I wanted something new. I really like the look of the Defender XT. I never switch my cases out until I upgrade my phone so I won't have to be changing cases at all. You did say if that was the case for you, you WOULD pick the Defender XT. So that kind of makes me feel better.

I've watched countless iPhone 14 case video reviews. The one thing that is most important (and very seldom mentioned) is the front screen protection. Without at least 1.5mm front lip to protect the front screen the rest of the case is near useless.

I agree 100%. Still looking for military grade case that will protect the screen in a drop. I’m very disappointed in Ottobox. They really cut corner on their cases. Not worth the price really.

It's got to have a fat lip you want your screen protected don't you some people just don't think very well why the heck would you buy a case it doesn't have a big lip on it OtterBox or Spigen speck

I have a symmetry on my 11 I have been using for over 3 years now and despite dropping my phone so many times there is like one small scratch on it. Looks pretty much brand new

@@T8RZTOTZAgreed. It may not be necessary for drop protection, but I only need serious drop protection a couple times in the life of a phone. What I need every day is for my phone to be protected from day-to-day bumps and accidents, and a case that helps give me something to hold onto. That’s where the bulkiness comes in handy over thinner cases.

I have been using the defender for decades, but I am increasingly annoyed at OtterBox protection rating. 3X protection, 4X protection or 5X. WTH does that mean? In reality, it means nothing. I want to see drop protection in feet. That way I can do an actual comparison. I'm looking at Pelican cases now that have their rating in feet of drop protection!

Yeah I agree with all this. Drop height is MUCH more usable. The 4X rating stuff that OBox does is simply a “Down the middle” approach that OBox uses to hit as many people as possible.

I actually got the defender pro xt. I’m actually happy with the case and got the belt clip with it. I didn’t like the bezel part at first, but learned to deal with it!!

xt is the only good case here. only one thats dustproof and will preserve your stainless steel edges. its easy to install, leave case as is and just push your phone in like any normal case. I've done it over 20 times no damage. symmetry case is garbage, no rubber on the back means flat drops smash your back glass thanks to the camera bump. XT is the only case I'll go for from otter box. defender pro isn't dust proof and the dirt that gets in just blemishes your stainless steel beyond your imagination. commuter...garbage, hate cases with flimsy sides around the home and volume buttons = dirt in-between phone and case
