The coke bottle reaction is one of the main reasons we had to take our son out of school. He was miserable all afternoon and evening at home because he had masked so hard all day. The second big factor was anxiety. He got to where he wasn’t sleeping or eating well and was really having major anxiety and meltdowns over going to school. He’s so much happier homeschooling.

We only have one of our autistic kids at school at the moment, the youngest starts kindy next year. But yes, afternoons are such an emotional and exhausting time in our house. Our daughter somehow manages to keep the lid on the coke bottle most days at school, but it’s a mess when we get home. Can totally relate to the loudness too, our son is 4 and at home he counteracts any other sounds or voices by making his own much louder. Makes it impossible to finish a sentence - or a train of thought as I’m autistic too and very sensitive to auditory input. Will have to look into the Soundsory. Thanks for sharing ☺️
