Finding these gems on KZbin makes me feel incredibly fortunate and grateful. Thank you for sharing. Otto Kernberg’s wisdom and genius as a clinician is tremendous yet he seems humble and approachable as a person. What a wonderful human being. His contributions to the field will outlive him for decades to come. Happy belated 96th birthday to him!

For those of us who have suffered abuse from multiple malignant narcissists in our families, I am deeply grateful for this clear understanding of their mental disturbances. No contact has become the only way to stay clear of their absolute intent to destroy absolutely. My hope is they find someone like you to help them find some peace in life.

Narcissism has to be thought for the public. Enablers have to understand that 1 of "their" narcissists creates a trail of destroyed lives. Narcissists will abuse who is vulnerable. They bend to those in power and use the ones vulnerable. I wonder what is the percentage of people who are very easily become enablers? Is this percentage (enablers) grows under certain social environment? How many percent are able not to be manipulated and keep logic or their integrity. How is it defers between economically different societies?

Has anyone ever considered that most of these patients just need someone to hold them, witness them, and cry with them?
@afakkobyab59823 жыл бұрын
For some that might work, sure. But you are underestimating if you are thinking those actions would magically heal someone with NPD

if "most of these patients" means non-NPD patients, that would be helpful. For NPD, no.

NPD is an attachment disorder. The aim of treatment is to create a healthy attachment between therapist and client. This requires a high level of skill and a certain level of detachment (not being drawn into client games and dramas). Not possible in an intimate relationship or friendship.

@@afakkobyab5982 You don' t heal from NPD. 'heal' is not the right verb. It might work for some? Which ones? I am one.
